Speed Ball [raxiss]

Post by rax »

Hi all :),

This is a small game that I started back with the "Bocco's adventures" in 2018. My main goal was to try to use the characters as sprites, dynamically changing their visualization during the game.

The goal of the game is to collect all the points and find the exit from the level.
During the level you have to watch out for traps and avoid bats.

Controls:
- "Arrows" - ball moving.
- "G" - give up.
- "S" - sound fx on/off

The game has 40 levels (little work for Dom :) ).
I publish it as it was made in march 2020.
I look forward to hearing your opinion.
Have fun! :)

Really cute game rax, very engaging and pleasing when you work it out .. I got to the "ORIC" screen (no spoilers) and found it a bit hard, but will give it a few more goes around .. its nice to see very skilful placement and use of attributes, and I wouldn't have known it was a text/CHAR-mode game if you hadn't told us .. feels very hi-res thanks to your care for effective animation. I could imagine this engine evolving to support a side-scrolling shooter or Mario-like 2d platformer also, given its speed, maybe? Feels like it could do Jetset Willy, even?

Anyway, thanks again for giving us old Oric fans a real treat. You've definitely got a fan here, too!

I think I like this game very much. It looks very cool.

But I feel frustrated because I failed to go after the second screen.

I'm blocked at this point indicated here.

Another super cool game from rax. This kind of game reminds me of some games that I love from Misfit and RetroSouls, single character sprites but very addictive. BTW The levels must take a while to create them. Congrats rax.

I haven't played yet but I'm amazed at the graphics, and also windowing system from other games I saw on Youtube.
It's like you guys almost have a part of the engine to port a wonderful game like Sundog ;) (or Time Bandits)

Hi,
this game is very addictive. The name is very well chosen because the ball is really really fast :-)
Great once again Raxiss !

40 levels ? just too difficult with only three lives....
Would having Infinite lives be nice ?

Yes ? Ok, so, just type in :

Code: Select all

SPEEDBALL,N:POKE#1081,#EA:DOKE#1082,#EAEA:CALL#600
And your lives counter will be stuck to 3. 8)
