Hi everyone,
I’m excited to join this community! While I’m new to the forum, my passion for 8-bit machines goes way back. My first experience with computing was on a Commodore 64, so I never actually owned an Oric back in the day. While I only recently discovered the Oric computers, I was immediately struck by its design—it’s a beautiful machine and has quickly become a major inspiration for me.
Current Setup
I recently received a MiSTer Multisystem 2 and immediately installed the Oric Core. It’s been a blast finally playing around with the platform and write code for the Oric computer. It has only deepened my interest in how these machines work.
My personal big goal is to build a 65C02 based computer. I want to create something that captures the spirit of the Oric Atmos and similar machines from that era. So it won't become a clone but a new computer with new available parts like the 65Cxx IC's.
I’ve already spent some time lurking and am honestly impressed by the projects I see here:
The clever ULA replacements.
Custom replacement PCBs.
New keyboard solutions.
There is clearly a wealth of knowledge here, and I’m looking forward to learning from you all!
Looking forward to catching up with you in the threads.

Any specific reason to restrict to the 8bit variant since you want to make something new? You could go for the W65C816S instead of W65C02S, that's a significantly more powerful processor that still keeps a 6502 compatible mode.

Re: Viridi
I started by watching the video’s of Ben Eater where he builds a computer with the W65C02S. Watching these video’s inspired me to build a computer with the W65C02S. So I bought a W65C02S, RAM, ROM and two W65C22’s.

Welcome to the community, viridi. There are indeed some great projects in this small scene, and it feels as fertile as ever in terms of what the Next Generation™ of Oric hacking is going to produce. It’d be nice to see an Oric 2 on the horizon somehow - think your project might get that far, perhaps?
