Hi all,
On the repository https://www.defence-force.org/ftp/forum ... oric/ROMS/, why are there 1.1 version ROMs for different countries? Since the machine was a UK creation, why is there a UK version of the ROM?
Many thanks,
Michael

Most of those were created to be used with emulators. They were not official nor existed back when the machine was available for sale.
There are also some 1.2x roms with some patches to the BASIC routines, again developed later on.

Specifically, that was to make it easier to support localized keyboards when used with emulators.
Fabrice tried for ages to solve the issue in Euphoric by doing some smart stuff on the emulator side, and at some point realized that the proper way of doing it was the modify the ROM key mapping table for each supported language.

Re: Oric ROMS
There is a French version that does not fully work. the < > * keys are missing. I had to reprogram the keyboard matrix memory ROM and the .map file of the emulator for a "Fr-Fr" version with Oricutron under Xubuntu Wine.
