Anbernic

This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.

Anbernic

Post by Steve M »

Has anyone else been using these new game devices like Anbernic? There's a few others.

I got the Anbernic RG40XXH. Basically they house a bunch of emulators so you can play retro games using the 'Roms'. There's Gamboy, Gameboy Colour, Gamboy Advance, Ps PSP, Gamegear. MSX Atari ST Mame and a bunch more. They say my system is Linux based.

I guess the question is whether these could be got to run Oric software? I imagine the main issue is getting the key bindings to work on a gamepad - but Maybe ISS stuff for IJK joystick would work OK? but I wouldn't know how to go about getting the Oric emulator software sorted so it'd work on the Anbernic. Could be an interesting project?

Have you changed OS or anything like that? I updated the firmware which was a bit scary and took a couple of goes to get it right.
I've added one or two games but some of the ones I looked for had the wrong file extension. There's so many options though it's hard to know which to try.
I was playing Doom but when the battery ran out it lost the game and I couldn't remember which emulator it came from. I tried a couple but it wouldn't load my game saves so I'm not sure if I am using the right one. That's my main issue so far. Battery cuts out too quickly and it's hard to get back to where you were.

I bought mine from the RMC museum shop when I visited, and came with a card that links to this guide:

https://caveshop.co.uk/pages/miyoo-mini ... tion-guide

But I'm not expert and all I did after following the guide was copy some SNES ROMs on it, played a few, and I haven't had time to properly look at it yet.
