I owe a lot to Dave. Back in the 80s in Turkey, I had an Oric computer and there were no resources available, and none of my friends used the same computer at tha times. For years, I managed with programs I wrote myself, and I had given up hope for anything related to Oric. It wasn't until years later, when I started using the internet, that I discovered the Oric community. The first word I typed into Yahoo, which was the most popular search engine at the time, was 'Oric'. I was amazed to find the Euphoric emulator and many program files, which were like a treasure trove of the Oric programs that I had missed for years. Then I discovered the OUM magazine and met Dave. This meeting led to me meeting other Oric enthusiasts like Jonathan "Twilighte". Dave published my story in OUM and encouraged me to subscribe to the magazine, which is how I met all of you. I am infinitely grateful to all of you, especially Dave. Thank you.

We had the last one in 1999 (IIRC). We tried to get a meet up in the Rhetoric days but couldn't quite manage it - we need people like Dave to sort things out !
We nearly got me and Twi gathered at the Computing museum at Bletchly Park, but Twi said he wasn't feeling well at the last minute. It was sad being there without him.
I can't remember if that was when I was trying to get Dave to come too. He'd rang me, but in those days I was so new to mobile phones that I couldn't figure out how to return the call. (This was when phones had buttons on the front.) It was a weird music playing phone Sony W980, I think, which looked cool and did things like transmit music so you could pick it up on your car radio. Years before Bluetooth! Shame I couldn't find where the call records were though.

Nice to see Dave D again he was really supportive with me when I first got into Oric computers back in the day. He even let me crash at his gaff when I came down for the OUM meet in Aylesbury. We were all sat around a portable TV watching Jonathan demo his latest project.

Aylesbury was some kind of magic name when I discovered Oric clubs exited back in 1995 (thanks to Euphoric!)Vyper68 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 5:56 am Nice to see Dave D again he was really supportive with me when I first got into Oric computers back in the day.
