Memory [raxiss]

Post by rax »

Hello :)

I found a game I had forgotten I made. MEMORY. Nothing special, but good to have for the story.

As you know, there is a board with cards turned face down and you opening the cards two at a time, should be able to reveal two identical cards.
I publish it go as it was 3 years ago.

EDIT: Looks like maybe you should have the random number generator turn in the background during the intro so we don't always start with the same level, and possibly have like in FreeCell an option to enter a specific game number so people can compete on the same "level" to see who can do it faster :)

Just to make it fair, people, if you post a screenshot, make sure it's from your first attempt, not your best out of 15 ;)

It was ;)
And using Euphoric, I didn't have the same "always the same random" starting values!
I tried to load the game again and of course like Oricutron, the positions were the same again, so I second your request for an "extra random" (timer?) thing for emultaors.

I didn't know the game would be of interest. This will be fixed :)

I made a few changes:
- Added two modes: "random game" and "select game".
- A timer has also been added.
- If you select "random game", an inscription with the same name appears at the bottom left. If you select "select game" it says: "Selected game".
- The total number of games are 0 - 65535. There is no check if you have entered a large number or letters. If you enter a larger number, it will be converted to 0 - 65535.
- The number of the current game is at the bottom right.

Enjoy!

Nice update, so we can repeat a table :) to push a speed record (without mistakes of course)

May be you could add a level with for example some duplicates in the cards for easy level

Another thing maybe: Is it possible to have less decoration on the back of the tiles, to me they look too much like actual patterns.

An option to have random games with the v1 (while waiting fo bug fixes from v2  ) is to load the game, reset Oric inside the emulator, then load it again. With Euphoric, you can "rewind" he TAP file by selecting it in the F1 menu and pressing the left arrow key. I think with Oricutron you have to re-insert the tape.
I think interest in the game shows a certain reality: we still have time to try a quick game, bigger ones are harder to find time for sadly.

Anyway, here is my new high-score ;)

(my strategy: learn by heart each card of the 1st line, in the right order. Then carry on discovering and remembering what I can, but with the eight first items in mind, you can match easily the corresponding other 8, so that's 16 out of 40 items immedialtely right - 40%! )

I saw the problems in version 2, for which I apologize. Will be corrected as soon as possible.

I experimented with several types of backs, and the current one seemed the best. Here are the variants I tried:

If someone offers a back of the card I would put it (18px x 18px) :)

I think I would be happy with just something just plain white or plain black, or with a different set of colors shown alternated so they are easy so distinguish from actual symbols to memorize :)

The universal receipt to satisfy almost all user preferences is simply to give the choice to the user himself.
So, just add some different backs and pressing 'B' will cycle them
