Castillo Belmar / Castle Belmar

Post by Bieno »

Castle Belmar is a game that Paul Allen Panks aka Dunric originally wrote for the Commodore MAX and it occupies the amount of 2k. The author was a lover of challenges and creating text adventures for many systems. The game arguably has the bare minimum to be called a text adventure.
Now and thanks to Minter who has passed the original to ORIC and Chema Enguita who has assembled the digital versions, we can enjoy the ORIC versions in both languages.

To learn more about DUNRIC, you can visit this link (use google translator):

To download the versions of the game in C64 / MAX and ORIC, you can go to this link:

Hello,

I've just published a cover of Castle Belmar.

Unlike Bieno's version, this version doesn't respect the limit of 2ko but is more faithful to scenario and map of the original version published by Paul Panks.

By default the game imitates the original version. But I added the possibility to have music and illustrations with commands:

Code: Select all

MUSIC ON/OFF
IMAGE ON/OFF
Volume of the music can be changed with command:

Code: Select all

VOLUME UP/DOWN
Keyclick can be turned on/off with command:

Code: Select all

SOUND ON/OFF
Illustrations are made with dall-e based on author's descriptions and are displayed with H3 lib.

Soluce is avaible here.

Thank you Bieno :)
for the comment AND for making me discover this game Castle Belmar.
Because I would not have known this game if you hadn't make a cover of it available on this forum.

Dom tested this illustrated version and found an issue with the azerty keyboard .. and with the graphic rendering.

Have you experienced this kind of issue :

It's ok .. we found that my game unproperly init screen mode and then when booting from sedoric it is in reverse video mode .. and as I don't use rom funcitons, keyboard mapping is not compatible with french rom.

Castle Belmar is the simplest possible adventure game .. so it is the shortest to complete also.
