Oric Fonter - quick tool for Oric fonts [raxiss]

Post by iss »

Hello all!
Working on one of the on-going raxiss projects I had to inspect bunch of collected Oric fonts,
so I've created Oric Fonter - a 'quick & dirty' font viewer which I want to share with you.

It's plain HTML+JS and can be used online here: Oric Fonter
or completely off-line - download attached ZIP below, extract it and load it in your browser.

For demo purpose the viewer has two built-in default fonts from Oric and Pravetz-8D.
To use it with your own font files simply drag&drop them over the opened page ;).
As I said, the tool works entirely in your browser and will not send your files anywhere, no cookies are used, etc.

It's fully possible that Oric Fonter evolves in full featured font editor ... maybe one day, depending on interest.
Enjoy! All feedback, requests and bug reports are welcome!

Neat! I'd be interested in the font collection, too.. I remember having a tape of fonts back in the day...

I failed to find a font file to use with this viewer ..

I tried the ones provided here:
http://miniserve.defence-force.org/view ... /charsets/

and the one used in the archive:
http://osdk.org/files/Articles/DungeonM ... .ART15.zip

But none works with the viewer.

What's exactly the format of the file that has to be dropped in the web page ?

IMO, a font editor based on this principle would be a very convenient and useful tool.

Well, the selected samples will not work.
The tool accept as input full charset definitions only in plain binary format or with added header as valid TAP file.
More precise you can use binary files with exact size of 768 or 1024 bytes, or TAP files which contain such binaries or with start address in the TAP header set to #9800, #9900, #9C00, #9D00, #B400, #B500, #B800, #B900.
Use the attached samples to test.
