Twilighte Update

Post by Twilighte »

Well back in UK now.. sob sob, things did not turn out for the best in Finland. I found it nye impossible to get a job and without one was forced to survive on savings only. And savings only go so far.
So back in UK now (Since Tuesday).
Now looking for place to stay in UK, possibly back in Dunstable. Unsure as yet where to locate myself but must be close to london for job prospects and skin treatment.
Apologies to Chema but it will still be some time before i am settled enough to return to music for space1999. But it will be done, and on my list of the very first thing to do when i get oricing again.
But roof over my head, job and life must come first.
Best wishes to all Oricians.

Sorry to hear things didn't go as expected in Finland. Get your time to settle things back in UK and good luck.

I have my own family medical crisis, so I also need time to finish some things I am working on in Space 1999 (will post something about this on the forum).

Best wishes!

I sure wish as well things will go better for everybody.

On my side I'm still looking for an apartment, and this really starts to bother me a lot.

In the good news side, I managed to fix most of the big bugs I got in the version 0.017 of the OSDK, and next version will also probably use the updated version of FreeImage, meaning more supported file formats :)

Sorry to hear things didn't work out, but nice to have you back.
Ever thought of trying Scotland ?

Hope things work out for you soon.

I have now moved to Eastbourne, Sussex. It's all about the open doors available to me and the requirements of any move.
I needed to be within commutable distance and transport of London for my very specialist skin treatment (PUVA).
So Scotland was out.
But no friend could put me up in Dunstable but a family friend in Eastbourne could and suggested i came down to stay.
That was last Tuesday and now i am still in Eastbourne, where i was born and grew up until 10 years old.
I should get some limited internet soon (currently using wifi down town) then i might be more active within the oric community again.
Best wishes to all and thankyou for your concerns.

Hey Twi, wishing you all the best in your trip back to UK.
Deal with the important things, find yourself a good place and job before anything else !

ok, now in Dunstable!
Only here for weekend staying with friends then onto my Sisters in Tamworth for a week. Got to decide where to live, and currently thinking Eastbourne but we shall see.
Not had much time for Oric but did start working on new game.
I still have to start regular appointments in London and atm that will start mid October time.
Steve, not sure about Scotland, i like the idea but i am currently only going places where their are friends to stay with and i have no (known) friends in Scotland, though i know a few from.
I haven't forgotten Space1999 but atm i would really prefer if someone else could do the music and sound effects.

That would be a pitty, as I already have heard what you are able to do, and it is unbelievable. Your effects and music in AT really ROCK!

(BTW couldn't those sound effects be hardcoded somehow? If they worked in AT, maybe they can be translated to small routines that can be quickly and easily inserted in the game, even if most cool features --like volume changing and quick edition-- should be discarded)

I am not sure if anybody out there is able (and have time) to even do something simple with the PSG (even with similar routines as in BASIC). It would be a real upset if the game, now that is so near its conclusion, ends up with no sound!

However, I also need some more work with graphics. Still have to touch the main screen, fix some inventory graphics and probably add (at least) the apostrophe sign (') to the charset if we are to go for a french version..

Anyway, just take your time for personal matters and we can talk once you have everything settled.

Regards,

Apologies Chema, i guess i should return to Space1999 music at some point, as explained elsewhere i had developed so many half-projects they act as a sort of dampener on future projects. Like Times of Lore.. Whilst it didn't work out well i can't just leave it in a corner of my mind because it just festers their.
So yes i will do the music for Space1999  but not for a few months at least, and i cannot entertain any specifics until then. :(

Currently staying at my Sisters in Tamworth. 8) They have made me realise i can't just sit around doing nothing all day (even if Oric is fun!), i need to honour my priorities first. So no.1 priority is to find somewhere i can register as a permanent address (a friend or family) then begin to build my life again. :?
I am not discarding the idea of Scotland SteveM, even if your suggestion was a joke, if the right job shows up i will relocate. :P

Not a joke. As you know I lived there for a few years and I had good times. We moved to come back to Cumbria where we could set up our business, which there wasn't much prospect of in Edinburgh as they have so many instrument repairers due to the college being there.

They have plenty plenty of hospitals and I would expect they would be set up to deal with PUVA.

The lifestyle is much better than down south IMHO though Edinburgh has become a bit more hectic in recent years. Also there are - or were when I was there - several software companies where you might get work.

University towns/ cities tend to be a bit cooler places. Also handy if you want to retrain for something new. Oxford has a nice atmosphere, for example. Paris feels similar to Edinburgh.

regards, and good luck where ever you get to.

Well things have changed for the better finally, whilst the idea of returning to xn filled me with dread, they head hunted me when the last guy supporting 2000 sites resigned. So i will start again on 16th October for a higher wage. :) Currently looking for accomodation again in Luton. :P

Nice idea is Scotland Steve and maybe some day i could take a job their. But the treatment is only available in London for uk but also other european cities. I have asked about this because i wanted to relocate to birmingham.

So finally things are looking up and i so so hope this place to rent comes good, cos its a great area, flat to live. And i promise once i get my computer up and running again in my new APARTMENT i'll return to Oric music for 1999. :P

Ok, now have a nice Flat in Dunstable, a small town in uk. I had to push the start date for work back to 22nd in order to get sorted and only just this afternoon have got broadband (internet).
Work was pretty ugly the first few days but has settled down now and is ok. It is never the final solution, but for now it suffices.
I have started looking at music again, but lots to sort out yet. :P
