IJK interface diagrams.

This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.

Nice post, i'll take a look at this joystick.
Dreaming of it for my oric. I hope it will be possible for me to build one.

As soon as you figure out how to do it, I'll make one too. I had a joystick for my old Oric-1, but lost it in a move ..

You can also add a Joystick to your oric by using my oldschool method: Solder the pins of the connector to the arrow keys and space bars directly on the keyboard matrix and scree the connector either on the side of the case or in the hole used by the video conversion box (that you do not need if you use SCART).

Advantage: It works with all the games that uses arrow keys and space and fits in the normal Oric.

kenneth, I would like to see this old project finished. If you can start it again and design a decent PCB, I'll be very happy.

If you need more information, feel free to ask me. :-)

Hello

I'll try with a test pcb from Conrad store.
Here are some diagrams that I did with the TCI Editor (http://b.urbani.free.fr)

Hum both schematics are incomplete, I don't think you can do anything with them...

Edit: ok, the BMP from the RAR files are complete, but the PNG show on the topic are damaged :?

Edit2: for CAD tools I strongly recommand Kicad (Free and OpenSource) or Eagle (available for free, but not OpenSource.)
Both could be more difficult to approach, but they are able to do "professional quality" board.

The PNG pics are only for preview and to attract the interest.
I'm using Protel DXP 2004   but I'm swapping to Kicad, I like very much and is free!!

EDIT. Kicad is available for Linux too. :)

Hey kenneth, the PCB looks cool! Does prototype work correctly?

The PCB has not yet completed. I have a joystick Spectravideo to try when I will have all assembled and pierced openings in the box.
It should be easy to do for everyone. I'll do a tutorial with pictures.

Hello Everybody, my Joystick interface is finished.

I tried it with "Attack of the cybermen" and it works nice !
Unfortunately, with Stormlord, nothing, I must verify the "fire button" connection and the second connector.

You can find there the final PCB files with holes position for the PCB legs.
