ORIC SDCARD

This is the right place to discuss on how to implement hardware vsync, adding a VIA or AY chipset, puting multiple roms, or how to design a new flash expansion card.

I got a 28 pin socket and the ceramic capacitors today. I also bought another 27C512, which happened to be UV erasable this time. I tried with the previous EPROM first and unsurprisingly, the Oric wouldn’t even boot. The second EPROM wasn’t empty either, but this time I was able to erase it. Now, it boots and I can attempt to CLOAD””. Of course, I get the ’Memory error’, but at least it’s otherwise working.

I’m still waiting for the MicroSD card module and an angled female pin header to arrive from eBay.

Are the Erebus card dimensions with the screw hole locations available somewhere, or should I just dig out my caliper? I thought I’d give a shot at designing a case for the card.

Since I didn’t have a case for my Erebus, I thought I’d design my own. Here are a few pics.

If someone with a 3D printer wants to try these out, I can send the .stl files.

Here they are. I'm still a beginner with Fusion 360, so there might be errors in the design. If you do print them, please give me feedback how they fit.

In retrospective, I probably should’ve oriented the PCB the other way around so that the IDC connector was in the back. That would’ve made the front of the case cleaner and enabled to place it side by side with the Oric. The current design facilitates the use of a shorter ribbon cable.

I might do a V2 at some point.

I did minor tweaks into the bottom part of the case. I'd forgotten to add fillets into two corners. The updated file is in Dropbox. The link is the same.

The case looks good. If you do print it don't forget to add supports on the bottom part.

I got the final missing piece for my Erebus with the arrival of the SD card reader. Gonna put some games on the SD card and try it later this evening.

Is the file browser a separate program that needs to reside on the SD card or should it be loaded just by typing cload””? I transferred a few .tap files onto the root of the SD card and inserted it into the Erebus? If I type cload””, I just get ?memory error. Is there a size limit for the SD card? Mine’s a 16 GB one.

Edit: Ah, I found that SDHC cards are a no-no from another thread. I managed to find one 2GB card, so I’ll try with that.

Here are the files for the one colour case. Enjoy. They are in a rar file.

I finally got myself a 3D printer, so I was able to print my modelled case for Erebus. Below is the top piece. I’ll need to change to red filament in order to print the bottom.
