There are no set times (that I know of), but if you ever need a real time chat, connect to ircnet.
Unsure what server you would use from your location.
Personally I use:
irc1.us.ircnet.net:6667
and then.... /join #oric
BTW, if you guys wanted, I can get us a dedicated full-time IRC channel.
The one above is kept open by members only, and is only created when someone joins it.
Anyway, let me know.

I hear ya mate.
Time is the problem I believe for most of us regarding casual chat.
However, I posted the information in case anyone wanted to announce a chat time for a certain purpose.
Soon shall be flying over your head!
Land in Gatwick on Wednesday morning, take a bus to Heathrow, book in at the hotel, take a tube into London, back to the hotel for overnight, and then fly from Heathrow to Glasgow on Thursday morning.
Then fly Glasgow to Gatwick on Tuesday 9th May.
Give me a wave then ok.

Real problem with the #oric chanel is mostly the IRC itself.
IRC suffers from the same kind of problems that made Usenet less and less practical: Server splits, identification failures making it impossible to connect, unusable webchat irc gateways... and necessity to use dedicated software, find the right network, the right server, etc...
Let's say it clearly, IRC sucks

Odd that your experience differs so much from mine Mickael.
Then again, I am far more used to a private smaller IRC server that does not have the same problems that the large networks have.
Our server has excellent java access, as well as using dedicated programs (like you said). Nothing wrong with dedicated programs either - Pirch is excellent.
Anyway, I am finding that a lot more people are using IM anyway (MSN, Yahoo, AIM, ICQ, etc).

Hi, I'm new on this forum and am therefore trawling my way through some of the older posts.
I see from this thread that there is (or was) possibly a problem keeping an Oric IRC channel open for chat sessions. I have a chat area on my site and have added an Oric room should anyone want to use it. The chat rooms are always open, so please feel free.
The URL is http://www.krazypengwin.co.uk/chat.php

Yep, and we even have bots now, so there is less problem getting op, or kicking out squattersPengwin wrote:Is the IRC chatroom still being used?
The lack of activity recently was mostly due to the fact that Twilighte is relocating to Finland, and on my side I got a lot of hardware problems (like no net for 3 days), plus lot's of overtime.
Don't hesitate to come online the week end in the evenings, very often people are here and talking
