In this forum you can write about anything that does not fit in other forums.
This includes generic Oric talkings and things that are totaly unrelated but want to share with people here :)

Hardware boxes scans

Post by Symoon »

I was wondering, are there high resolution (let's say 300DPI at least) scans of original hardware boxes somewhere?
Especially Oric-1, Atmos? (and Telestrat, and Microdisc, printers, Jasmin drives, etc. etc.)

Not that I know of, but would be nice to have some proper unfolded ones in high resolution, to reprint boxes :D

I don't know too.
I think the easiest way is to take a picture and going into photoshop, gimp ... to rebuild it
+ a 3d model for the protection system inside

I will try and scan some, but no deadline promises.
And I don't think I have a clean Oric-1 box - too bad I cut mine into pieces in the 80s :'(

All that remains is to make the polystyrene holder with an insulating foam spray and a terracotta mould.

The boxes are a bit big for scanners. Some nice photos would be easier.

I made 600DPI scans of an Oric-1 box, but it's really an old one sadly, the only one I have.
It's the version without typos.
I'll try and upload it somewhere some day, I'm running out of time right now.

Apparently Franck Médioni is going to be selling reprints of the Atmos box "soon" (on the "Oric 1 & Atmos Owners/Users" Facebook group.

Good news!
I should stop ranting about Oric infos being scattered in social media, and join some facebook groups.

BTW I'll try to picture Microdisc and Telestrat boxes (scanning is too complicated)

The boxes are available now on Etsy

Originally he only had the 3D renders, but he added a video showing the actual box.

I also ordered one.
I'm not quite sure the font he used is the proper one, but still better than nothing :)

I agree with this assessment, it's also one of the points I noted on my new Oriclopedia video:
