Amazing Job-Lot on eBay!!

Post by dave3622 »

I was just doing my daily check on eBay for a nice bargain and I found this :-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ORIC-Atmos-Mi ... 233d537959

What a stunning collection!! I wish I was a rich eccentric who had a spare £1000 to spend on this collection of beauties. Just seeing all those commercial games on Microdisc was a joy, I didn't even know they existed!!

I have no idea if this lot is overpriced, however considering the condition of everything I will be surprised if nobody buys it.

Wow !
I wonder if there are not some home-made stickers for the disks. For instance, Schtroumps is labelled "Micro 7" which was a computer magazine in France. Could be worth searching if they were selling disks at the time.

A bit overpriced IMHO (at least 30% too high by my standards).

Oh man that is probably the most amazing Oric setup I've ever seen. Darn, I wish I were rich enough to just buy it now - it'd be a dream come true to finally have all that stuff together - a real collectors item.

I hope it goes to someone who uses it and doesn't just get it for the collector value.

Incredible collection, but completely overpriced. Unfortunately, this is becoming a common prentice with classic computers.

I'm particularly impressed by the quality of the floppies inlays and stickers :)

Yeah, to me this is like a mythical beast unveiled .. if the Oric had this level of quality peripheral support 'back in the day' it may have stood a better chance. But I think this is the result of a careful curation by the owner, and not a reflection of the reality of the industry at the time. Does anyone else have such a quality rig?

I know the vendor, I bought a serial cable for Apple IIc from him.

He also has an Apple IIgs with a similar price for quite a long time.

I suppose he keeps them just in case an eccentric comes by...

Impressive collection indeed.

Edit : I just checked and the IIgs price dropped from about 1000 pounds to 550 pounds or something. Maybe we just need to wait ;)

Seems like it'd be the perfect system to use as a port of ContikiOS. Maybe we can arrange a group buy among us?
