Projects we are working on :)

Post by rax »

Hi all :),

As 6502nerd said: "#Octoric"!

So I decided to finish some of my small started projects. It seemed like a good idea for us all to know who has what projects started and unfinished.

When I browsed my directory with oric projects, it turned out that I had quite unfinished. if you want you can share here who is working on what :).

By raising this topic, I hope there will be people to start something :)

Most of my projects are small things that I started quickly, just to play with the idea. For me, almost all is small games. Here is the title that has a chance to see the world.

Jetpac... perhaps :).

Too many people liked it, but I still have a problem with the sounds (I can't make them come close as they were in the original). I'm afraid to disappoint, but I will try to finish it.

Tell us about your projects ... Chema you :)?

I'm overwhelmed with real-life problems, so everything is on hold right now, but current projects are (or were...)
- new version of HRC to try and compress a bit more (approx 1.5 year delay)
- new version of Novalight, faster and hopefully not making it less reliable (1 year delay)
- new version of Tape Tools (4-5 years delay)
- new tool to fix ROM 1.0 HIRES tape loading corruption (6 months delay)
- flood fill routine analysis (1.5 month delay)
- carrying on tape transfers, testing ORIX (1 year delay) and the USB drice (2 years delay)
- other things I was supposed to work with Dom and André C. and they're doing it all alone

Rax, I saw your Bomberman video on Youtube and it looks AMAZING

- Find (on the web or by myself) solution and map, for each adventure game programmed for the oric. On progress since 2016 :
95% carried out
- "Murders in Venice", 100% ASM:
80% carried Postponed since nine monthes due to lack of motivation and probably at the limit of my programming skills. :)
- "Le passager du temps", an adventure game 100% ASM, started in 2018 on a halt since 2 years :
50% carried out
- Participation, via the HIRES intro screen and music in the Oric Torreoscura disc version:
100% carried out for my small participation, but not released yet

Jetpac would be AWESOME on the Oric. I love the original spectrum version but it's clear the Oric could do it easily just because of the shooting level in Zorgon's Revenge. The laser and sound effect is perfect and the game is ancient!

This is awesome work! I have not had the opportunity to be on here for a while, but I have been on Twitter and YouTube where I have seen iss and rax.

As rax mentioned - I am pursuing #Orictober with videos almost daily about the Oric-1 and Oric Atmos. I have so far;
- Shown some old games
- Given a brief overview of the Oric hardware
- Getting in to Oric serial attributes (simple usage)

I have also been working on further improvements to dflat which is my replacement language and ROM for the Oric. Some news is that developer is porting dflat to the Acorn Electron and BBC Micro - it's very flattering but he has also helped to improve some parts of dflat through optimisation ideas.

Rest of Orictober month I will;
- Do some more videos - some games, some programming, some dflat demonstrations
- Complete more of dflat
- Look at how to get dflat working on a .dsk image (although I think it will be a one-way trip and no access to the disk for storage..hmm)

Have a great Orictober everyone and please have a look the videos if you have time and make any suggestions for other topics - or even better, use #Orictober on twitter or YouTube with your content. I think we can "make Oric great again" MOGA!

Here is a link to the Orictober playlist I have made so far..

Sounds terrific!
Can not add much to the list I am afraid as I have chosen to give priority to Commodore 128 projects first, but certainly plan to revisit maybe later.
Plan to port my just started C128 project to Oric Atmos later (will be a challenge as I now increasingly use the full 128 KB memory over there).

OSME - Oric Sound and Music Engine, sounds like one of the things that might make me revisit Oric development again ;-) Curious about that one for sure.

Next to all the great games coming up if I see this.
