I've set this thread as "sticky" so it will stay on the top of the list (will do that for Stormlord and other new games later), and will put the links on the reviews and other external resources of interest. You can of course give your feedback about the game here :)

There are already questions!
Why is it called "1337"?
I realised I don't know, some kind of mix with the stupid hacker's writing?

Added the links on the first post :)

For the 1337, quite a lot of reasons I would say:
- First it's not really Elite, I'd say it's much more than the original game
- Second, 1337 really means Elite, but as you said in "Hacker Speech"
- It makes people wonder why it's called like that :)

So a supremely hacked/elite version of Elite really can have such a name :)

1337 is worth buying the relevant hardware for and then working out how to get the binary disk image from the PC to a real Oric-compatible disk, isn't it? Talk about being a bit late for a killer-app ;-)

Shaun.

HELP! I got the sloten hi-tech (the hidden cannister from the Asteriod at Rebees) and proceeded to exit to the nearest world to begin my journey back. It says that I haven't followed the instructions, the deal is over and I have failled the mission?!? Can someone tell me how to pass this mission? Do I need to travel back to Riave by destroying Asteriods to refuel or something?

Edit: It turns out to be a bit of a bug in the game (I've uncovered a two or three so far), so maybe a new fixed version will be released soon?

Regards,

Shaun.

Indeed Shaun, that is why we are desperately asking for help in designing a disk-compatible SD interface for the Oric.

You store your disk images in an SD, plug it in, and play in your little machine!

On another (even more important) matter, Shaun has found out a BUG (and more than one by now) in 1337. One of them is serious and I have already patched the game to solve it.

When Shaun finishes the game and if no more bugs are found, I will post the new version in the website. Meanwhile, beware that version 1.00 is buggy.

(Version number appears for less than a second when booting both the intro and the game).

If you are already playing, don't worry for your saved games. You will be able to recover them from the new version whenever it is ready.

Really sorry for this, guys. It was heavily tested, but I destroyed it when building the release...

Hi Chema,

Even with these bugs, the game is really enjoyable. This is the classic Elite but with some big pluses to it, maybe Elite++ ;-)

I'll hold back on the full review until most of the major bugs are fixed.

Thank you for this game, it reminds me of why Elite was so good in the first place, even the crappy C64 version.

Regards,

Shaun.

My Telestrat arrived today (finally)!!!!

I'm going to be spending the weekend trying to work out how to transfer 1337 over to it, and then playing it .. YAY! :)

I feel like I'm 13 all over again. The grinning is starting to hurt! :)

Ibisum, didn't I mention before that 1337 WON'T work in a Telestrat?

The controller is microdisk compatible, but many other things aren't. Maybe with the stratoric cartridge... but I could never test that on Euphoric (the telestrat emulation hangs with stratoric).

Sorry guys...
