Hello guys!
Today I'm very happy to announce the first public release of TapOric!
tpo-02.jpg
You can download it here: TapOric-1.5.18.16

This is a lite version - only the standard Oric protocols 'fast' and 'slow' are included.
No manual yet - if you have question don't hesitate to ask here.
Try it. If you like it - use it!

Comments, critics and any feedback is highly appreciated - the next more advanced version depends on you! ;)

Cheers

Tested on the Oric 1 model, it works smoothly in fast mode, but the mode does not slow down anything.

Just tried it, seems brilliant! But I think I need some special cable to link my phone to my Oric, my usual standard mono jack does nothing and the phone keeps playing with its own speaker

Great! I'd love to have a look as soon as I can (which won't be soon, unfortunately, as I am going thought an unbelievably busy time at work!).

I am already missing the tap2cd version, though... :( fast mode is not fast at all!

Nice to see taporic being released. Any Oric project is always good news but it's hard for me to enjoy it since I'm feeling I'm getting 15 years back with the basic audio/tap solutions. I know it's hard work and time-consuming to work on hardware/software projects for old computers/systems but since I'm using dedicated SD-based loading/transfer tools on some 8bit platforms it's hard to get back. ;)
I hope an enhanced version will soon be available.

I use a classic stereo jack that needs to be properly inserted into my phone, I was blocking the cover of the phone, I had to remove the phone from the packaging.

Well, I bet next updates will try a F16-like speed! It should be reliable and not too hard to implement - I mean for the signal generation, because actually I have no idea with Android coding, it's often more work than one thinks.
F16 allows loading that are around 40% faster. Far from the crazy loading speed of TAP2CD, but it's still better to wait 3 minutes instead of 5, and it works with Oric-1.

Works a treat, excelent app.

I had a minor issue with the folder I used to transfer over from PC to phone that meant the app crashed and the only thing I could think of was the directory name was either too long or had spaces in it. I changed it to Oric and no problems since.

By far the cheapest way to get files from PC to oric when you dont have a disk drive unit or equivalent.

I also had a problem when setting th TAP folder. Seemed it was OK in the settings field (my path appeared again when I came back in the settings), but when trying to open a TAP file, the app kept asking me where to go. Then it crashed for some reason, and when running it again, the TAP folder was actually changed to my settings, and everything worked like a charm.
