Re: Need advice on VIA control (PORT A)
... based on the code, do you think it is just "electronic noise" or it's actually doing things like "opening and closing the tape relay" very fast? Please don't open and close the relay very fast, you will wear it out! Seriously, I can't recall if it was Oric or Enterprise, but...

Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
I remember a weird phenomenon, when the relay is activated, the tape recorder turns, and when the relay is deactivated the tape recorder does not stop anymore, you have to unplug and re-plug the jackremote to "unjam" the relay ... Maybe that the tape recorder had a too much big motor? Tha...

Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
no Oric I have here have a relay making any audible noises, Then either they are not the standard reed relays, or faulty. :) A relay should not make a "high pitch/frequency" noise when it open or close unless driven at a high frequency and it will not last long if that happen. Incorrect, ...

Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
I don't think the internal relay would be that audible, the "click" I have on some machine is clearly from the speaker. I don't remember ever hearing the relay moving when running a CSAVE/CLOAD command It depends on your hearing -- it's a high frequency "plink" and it *is* audib...

Re: New Oric Project. The OriClone-1
LM7905: At 1A 1.1V (demanding at least 6.1v at input) LM7805: At 1A 2.0V (demanding at least 7.0v at input) In fact is it probably more easy to find a 7V power supply than a 6.1V And yeah all official power supply were 9V: So that does not really hold up. I'm aware the original power supply was nom...

Re: ULA versions
PHILIPPINES HCS10017 Probably remarked by some chinese? Where does these come from? They come from Australia :) But: see my response above, someone has photographed/notated the number from the UNDERSIDE of the chip, which is not useful in this table. Take any ULA and flip it over, see what's writte...

Re: New Oric Project. The OriClone-1
Using the 7905 was a mistake, especially because using a 7805 would have not created any issue. I really think that the choice of the 7905 was more for $$ than anything else Incorrect, at least, according to official answers and data. :) The reason for the choice of 7905 over the 7805 was the lower...

Re: Expansion port for external ROM and /ROMDIS line
screen and font corruption reappears as before. Interesting experiment, well done for persisting with it! That line alone tells me your EPROM is putting data onto the databus at the wrong time. It is treading on the ULA's use of the database in the "ph2 is low" half -- well, two thirds, o...

Re: Expansion port for external ROM and /ROMDIS line
I struggle to picture how the EPROM being "too fast" can be a bad thing -- it's not like it can deliver data *before* it was expected, treading on something else :) Too slow, yes, big problem! There's no tricks going on here to select the ROM early, knowing it will be late showing up with ...

Re: Expansion port for external ROM and /ROMDIS line
Ooh, that's me :) I certainly don't think I invented that method (it likely fell in from another interface design elsewhere) and I can't think of a good reason why tying ROMDIS low wouldn't work, if you want to shove the internal ROM aside permanently. TBH, I'm not sure why I didn't just do that mys...

Re: Atmos, WDC65C02 and WDC65C22N and other
But since my machine does not want to go further than the boot screen with the 65C02 and 65C22 fitted at the same time (why :?: ) Could be completely wrong here, but wasn't one of the changes around the 65C02 and 65C22 something to do with the IRQ line (out from VIA, in to CPU) being changed from T...

Re: Atmos, WDC65C02 and WDC65C22N and other
Another weird thing is when I launch the excellent DIAGROM (without any add-on cards): with the original VIA fitted, the "timer test" passes but when a 65C22N is inserted, timer test fails. As the code was written and tested against a 6522A (as standard) it's likely that it's missing some...

Re: Printer?
IIRC the problem with modern printer with the true type fonts was that they didn't necessarily recognise ASCII codes. Oh, I'd forgotten, some printers are such a designed-down cheaped-out piece of trash that they are barely a couple of motors, a pencil and a power-supply, everything being done in s...
