Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Grrr. Always a problem somewhere. I'm still finding it impossible to convert .tap files to .wav - either on my XP or W10 machine. I've downloaded the tap2wav.exe file from https://sourceforge.net/projects/euphorictools/files/Tape%20tools/WAV%20format/ but clicking/running it pops up something that t...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Thanks, Symoon, but I think you guys did most of the work :) I'd like to convert some of my .tap files to WAV so I can load them into my Atmos for testing (and play!). Do you recommend any specific software for this conversion? I don't believe it's an option in Audacity, which seems crazy for audio ...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Another update and more progress achieved. I can now exclude my W10 laptop from the routine of saving and loading as I have successfully managed to re-load files to the Atmos from my XP machine using VLC media player. The only strange thing is that it only works if I unplug the microphone lead from ...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Right, we have some success! Albeit via a long-winded method! I have successfully loaded the .wav file from my NEW W10 laptop to the Atmos. So, at the moment, my only route to writing stuff on the Atmos, saving and reloading it is to: 1. Write program on the Atmos 2. Use Audacity to save the file as...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

BTW do you hear the file playing through your Atmos speaker? When working fine, on all machines I suppose, it can be heared if you're close enough and paying attention. Last option: could you post one of your WAV files somewhere, so I can download it and try loading it on my machines? ;) I don't he...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Personally, I would start from a WAV file generated by TAP2WAV, TAP2CD or equivalent, because then you know it's a binary perfect file, not the result of something that was sampled. Thanks for the suggestions, much of which I've tried but will continue plugging away. Regarding converting from .tap ...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

I will be having another crack at this today - loading files from the XP laptop to the Atmos. I realise there are record and playback volume settings in the Audacity software. Do you think I should be doing anything specific to help by changing the laptop's own sound settings? ie. the settings for M...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Also remember to not have any "system sound" or "email client" or anything else doing "bleeps" and "plops" when you try to load, because they will also reach the Oric. There shouldn't be any interference from the laptop, I was sure not to have any other progr...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Well, I have an update. I've made some progress but we're not 100% there yet. I am using Audacity to successfully record files from my Atmos to my XP laptop, as WAV files. Playing these files on the laptop (in Audacity), it's lovely to hear the Oric's loading noise. I can open these files on my lapt...

He's got loads of 'em but doesn't want to sell them - can't say I blame him! Gonna really try to get to this today - have booted up an XP machine so hope to be back with good news.

Re: John Gage reviews Damsel In Distress!

Well, I just put in a price request for oric.net as it's just a holding page. Within minutes, got this bargain deal:

"oric.net is currently valued: $4,788"

Think I'll pass.
