Re: CC65 to DSK

As you predicted, SAM mode has PAPER changes all over the place, which makes it hard to keep the race track black. So for now I will focus on using mode -f2, which has no PAPER variations. I managed to get a simple sprite animation, with attributes before and after each sprite used to set/reset the ...

Re: CC65 to DSK

Thanks for this tip Dbug. I was confused about these values between 32 and 63, and 160-191. Seems that they just repeat other patterns available in the ranges 64-127, and 192-255. The idea of exploiting bit 6=0 and 5=1 for sprite collision is interesting though, I will make a note of this. By the wa...

Re: CC65 to DSK

I am unclear about something regarding attributes.

0-31 means attribute change

64-127 means INK pixel setting

192-255 means INVERTED INK pixel setting

What do 32-63 and 128-191 represent???

Re: CC65 to DSK

Exactly, I am onto it already!
For example, I noticed that some black areas of the map correspond to inverted white paper.
I am trying to push attributes to the edge, as you are suggesting.

Re: CC65 to DSK

That SAM mode is not bad, once you get the hang of it...

To draw some sprites, I will need to sacrifice a 6 pixel block before and after the sprite, to change atttributes. Is that correct?
(Thus my choice of a black race track...)

Re: CC65 to DSK

I followed the instructions on this page: http://caca.zoy.org/wiki/libpipi/oric
But I get a garbash screen... Does the file need to be in specific format/size to work with pipi.exe?

Re: CC65 to DSK

I managed to get better detail by going to 2x2 pixel blocks.

Re: CC65 to DSK

Short update on the python convertor. I started by producing a screen with red/blue alternating lines, and then switch [on/off], [normal/inverted] the groups of 6x2 pixels. That gave me a kind of "palette". In GIMP, I used cubic interpolation to reduce this palette to 27 colours. Rescaling my origin...

Re: CC65 to DSK

Alright, it makes sense now. I think I will write Python script adapted to the needs of my game.

Re: Networking Orics.

@DDbug (1) Crucial question!!! For now I have put a (very safe) 0.5ms delay on ACK signals from arduino, so ATMOS receives buffers @ 2KB/s. I will try to bring this down to the lowest value possible once I have optimized the code a little more... I am running from C, need to convert code to ASM to a...

Re: CC65 to DSK

Thanks for the rapid answers, I hugely appreciate this amazing level of support! The bitmap was generated with: PictConv -f7 -d0 -o2 river256.png river.raw I managed to get the bitmaps saved on the disk using header. header river.raw build/river.com $A000 I wrote onto disk together with CC65 code: t...

Re: CC65 to DSK

I see! I will try header on the binary file tonight.
By the way, the AIC mode in PictConv seems broken. Using the -f7 flag, I only get B/W images.

Re: CC65 to DSK

Alright, but say I have a just a memory buffer (8000 bytes of screen data).
How should I make this into a tap file? Does it need a load address as the first 2 bytes??
