Re: Networking Orics.

I am going to start implementing Joystick support on the Arduino Ethernet board.

I heard that other joystick adaptors for the printer port exist out there.
I might as well try to make the Arduino compatible with those existing systems... is there any technical information on them?

Re: Announcing 8bit-Unity: Cross-platform SDK for 8bit games

Thanks for the positive energy ISS! This is going to be a multi-year project, with loads of future milestones such as more platforms, and more API functions (for things like tiles and scrolling).

Announcing 8bit-Unity: Cross-platform SDK for 8bit games

Hey guyz, Last month I released 8bit-Slicks for the C64, Atari XL and Apple//e. It is the first cross-platform online game for 8bit era computers. While developping the game, I organized my project into a "game" part, and a "SDK" part, for future re-use. It then occured to me that other people would...

Re: Networking Orics.

There is a wifi version of this Arduino ethernet, so in theory no problem.
For now I am using ethernet so I don't need to worry about how to connect to network in the C code.

Re: CC65 to DSK

AIC would make things complicated unless I move vertically in steps of 2 and horizontally in steps of 6... But even then the sprites will not look "sharp" (because of interlacing of different colours). I would like to get the above demo working with SAM's mode, but the random PAPER/INK changes make ...

Re: CC65 to DSK

As you predicted, SAM mode has PAPER changes all over the place, which makes it hard to keep the race track black. So for now I will focus on using mode -f2, which has no PAPER variations. I managed to get a simple sprite animation, with attributes before and after each sprite used to set/reset the ...

Re: CC65 to DSK

Thanks for this tip Dbug. I was confused about these values between 32 and 63, and 160-191. Seems that they just repeat other patterns available in the ranges 64-127, and 192-255. The idea of exploiting bit 6=0 and 5=1 for sprite collision is interesting though, I will make a note of this. By the wa...

Re: CC65 to DSK

I am unclear about something regarding attributes.

0-31 means attribute change

64-127 means INK pixel setting

192-255 means INVERTED INK pixel setting

What do 32-63 and 128-191 represent???

Re: CC65 to DSK

Exactly, I am onto it already!
For example, I noticed that some black areas of the map correspond to inverted white paper.
I am trying to push attributes to the edge, as you are suggesting.

Re: CC65 to DSK

That SAM mode is not bad, once you get the hang of it...

To draw some sprites, I will need to sacrifice a 6 pixel block before and after the sprite, to change atttributes. Is that correct?
(Thus my choice of a black race track...)

Re: CC65 to DSK

I followed the instructions on this page: http://caca.zoy.org/wiki/libpipi/oric
But I get a garbash screen... Does the file need to be in specific format/size to work with pipi.exe?

Re: CC65 to DSK

I managed to get better detail by going to 2x2 pixel blocks.

Re: CC65 to DSK

Short update on the python convertor. I started by producing a screen with red/blue alternating lines, and then switch [on/off], [normal/inverted] the groups of 6x2 pixels. That gave me a kind of "palette". In GIMP, I used cubic interpolation to reduce this palette to 27 colours. Rescaling my origin...
