Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

BTW do you hear the file playing through your Atmos speaker? When working fine, on all machines I suppose, it can be heared if you're close enough and paying attention. Last option: could you post one of your WAV files somewhere, so I can download it and try loading it on my machines? ;) About hear...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Apart from being sure no external sound will be heared (incoming email, whatever), only volume settings you should care about are WAV and master volume. Try setting the at the maximum, then half if it doesn't work. The frequency is not really important. You might even try to lower it (recording at 1...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Depending on Atmos models, il can require a low volume, or sometimes a (very) high one.
From memory, the CSAVE recording was sometimes low on my computer.

Once you saved your WAV file, you could try amplifying it (a lot, who cares, it's saved) before playing back.

Re: Forgotten software

It seems to be a game published in the 80's magazine "Jeux et Stratégies" (not a computer game, a kind of board game). http://fr.1001mags.com/parution/jeux-strategie/numero-52-aou-sep-1988/page-50-51-texte-integral I seem to recall someone on a forum promoting it for Oric many years ago, but I don't...

Re: Forgotten software

Actually for Minos, on the black screen, you just have to press an arrow key to begin the game.

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

I honestly Don't know. I'm using a version from… 1996! Then a simple program. I'd say try Audacity 1st, or google for any free equivalent (I'm not familiar at all with Audacity so can't tell its + or - ) IMHO it's not worth spending zillions in a professional program just to record/playback/save and...

Just make sure that everything is connected on the same power plug/circuit when you connect the Oric to the PC.
Lol, edited my message just while you were writing this ;)

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

Now that IS interesting. Can I ask what is your set-up? I assume you're using an external monitor with the Oric and simply replacing a tape recorder with a PC? I've got more spare, unused laptops than I care to admit and if I could use one of them as a replacement for a tape recorder then I'd be ju...

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

.wav files not an option at this stage because I want to do the programming, saving, etc. on a real Atmos. I want to ensure anything I write works 100% on a real Atmos. I've been using a PC as tape player for my real machines (loading/saving) for 25 years now, and it works fine. Unless it involves ...

Re: Forgotten software

Minos is an early game and Oric.org says Oric-1. Did you try with ROM 1.0?

Re: Sell me a data recorder! Price no object!

I may have already asked but - does it have to be on tape? Can't you save on your computer? (WAV file).

Re: More Oric stuff on YouTube

The problem with asking to review bad games, is that this unfortunately propagate the idea that the Oric was a terrible machine. Also experienced someone testing one of my programs with apparently a faulty emulator that kept thinking he was pressing the wrong keys… Nothing worked, and my full name ...

Ok, as it's hour change here in France (2am => 3am) , we'll sleep later while you're working . So this will make the downtime shorter
Good luck with the replacement.
