Re: Atmos ROM

the newly programmed 27c128 eproms (I tried several) will not allow the computer to boot when the Microdisk controller is attached, though it boots fine with the old 27c128 inserted?!? Assuming your EPROMS aren't broken/fake/mislabelled etc :- EPROMs for system ROMS and external devices (the disc i...

Re: New Member and New Oric Atmos Owner

Fascinating read, this thread. Not much to add except to say that I bought 2 8912 chips from China recently, for use in resurrecting some Oric-1's. They came well packaged in an anti-static tube. Removed one from tube, plugged it into Oric, powered it on and was treated to a constant tone, with no k...

Re: Atmos/Microdisk - ghost in the machine!?!?!?

Well, that proved to be far easier than it had any right to be. Turns out the second address line of IC2 (74ls244) that I checked was faulty, holding the poor Old Oric's A1 line low. Replacing it proved a real pain. I ended up having to cut the faulty chip's pins with a dremel and take them out indi...

Re: Atmos/Microdisk - ghost in the machine!?!?!?

I think the FDC should be a WD1793, not a MB8877. They are "firmware compatible" but not "pin compatible" Here is the datasheet: http://bitsavers.org/components/western ... ay1980.pdf Now that's very interesting, I never thought it could be a pin-compatible replacement. That also means that the ori...

Re: Sedoric 4.0

I had a few headaches with Goteks when I first started out but I have had more success lately. Now I have the correct USB programmer I have managed to program HxC Firmware and FlashFloppy firmware. I did the OLED screen and sound mods too. If anyone wants one programmed then PM me - free - no charg...

Re: Atmos/Microdisk - ghost in the machine!?!?!?

Thanks for the responses guys. There have been developments, and not for the good. While checking to see if it could be a drive-related problem, I swapped out the Oric's floppy and installed a 3" Teac drive I salvaged from a Tatung Einstein I once possessed. Long story short, while doing this, the M...

Re: Atmos ROM

At the risk of being shouted at for resurrecting dormant threads, I got my Atmos to work with 27c128's eproms without issue. I also used the empty memory socket to house the old v1.0 rom that my Atmos came with, and added a little circuit that allowed me to select which rom I wanted to work with - n...

Atmos/Microdisk - ghost in the machine!?!?!?

Attached below is a little video of a problem that has been plaguing my Oric/Microdisk setup, like forever. And it's getting worse! Usually I can get 1-2 hours work done on my Atmos, then what you will see in the video starts happening, which if left running, gets worse & worse with more random lett...

Just played Tetrix for the first time in ages. Scored 160. Not bad. Not great.
Years for me too, but I used to play it a LOT in the past - after a couple of games over the past few days, I've managed 1400 & change. Great game.

Re: Gamebase Oric V1.00

Tetrix is available in the V3 release of Gamebase Oric. I was working on V4 but lost everything after my hard drive and backup drive crashed. Although V4 may never see the light of day I am still slowly adding new games just in case my motivation returns. Thanks for responding. Guess I should have ...

Thanks for that. I've not been able to get the other issues to load so your direct links are perfect. You're welcome, glad someone enjoyed it and could be back on track to finish old projects ;) Regarding the download, I'm just using the forum storage area. I also had trouble with Omelette's previs...

Re: 3" diskettes?

I would still like to know the effect a microwave would have on a floppy disk though. Here you are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WUep0oyO-M&feature=youtu.be&t=22 This is the real effect, everything else is a speculation! ;) Haha, thanks for that, it never occurred to me the check Youtube. Re: Gamebase Oric V1.00

Whatever became of the 'Gamebase Oric' venture? 2013 is an awfully long time since the last post. I also read that you had contacted Andre Widhani, the author of Tetrix, for a copy of the game, yet David Craddock, the creator of Gamebase Oric and instigator of this thread, has a Youtube video where ...

... leaving you with no way of returning to the Oric 'F1' works in debug mode too showing the pop-up menu. Else you can change the PC register to known working address and continue emulation with F2. Oh, ok. But wouldn't it make more sense to just give the user a means of resetting/clearing the pro...

Re: Oricutron 1.0 (EDIT: Now 1.2)

I've got the latest Oricutron running on Wine, running on Linux and it works great... Why not use the native Linux binary? Long version, I'm stuck with a really old Mint 17.3 right now because the caddy's controller-chip in my laptop, which is a PATA -> SATA i/f for an SSD, no longer works with ALL...
