Re: Mass storage options for Oric

As ibisum wrote it, Cumana Reborn is a really nice choice... Let's just expect that a new FlashFloppy firmware taking directly in charge Oric .dsk format (ie. without changing it to .hfe) will be released soon. Another point worth mentioning is that Zaxon doesn't not seem to produce the Cumana Rebor...

Re: Mass storage options for Oric

You should first check the excellent Dbug's Oriclopedia on mass storage options for Oric:

:D

You greatly explained all the other benefits I have omitted, and it adds more "heat" to my warm recommendation...

Cheers !

TSN 1-2450A instead of LM7905

As you know, our Orics use a LM7905 as a voltage regulator, which can seem strange as there were simpler solutions even in the '80s... Heat is of course an issue with this regulator which tends to get really hot, and adding a heatsink under the motherboard is a common way to prevent from overheating...

Re: Replacement rubber "feet"

There is nothing wrong to dig in old threads, actually your message helped me to notice now a small difference between Atmos and Nova64 Indeed, it's the same on the three I got. Also the screws were different, instead of (+) cruciform/philips style, they all had (-) flat head screws, for both the p...

Re: Replacement rubber "feet"

Sorry again to revive an old thread... There is nothing wrong to dig in old threads, actually your message helped me to notice now a small difference between Atmos and Nova64 - see picture ;). atmos-nova64.jpg Didn't know that too... Those ones seem to be not pretty common, as all rubber feet are m...

Re: Replacement rubber "feet"

Sorry again to revive an old thread, but as it helped me a lot when replacing my Atmos' rubber feet, I'd like to share the following information: As Mrm wrote, Orics share same rubber feet with Commodores C64... Knowing that, it's then easy to search the web to find miscellaneous products from vario...

Re: IJK interface diagrams.

Just found the following link: https://www.old-computers.com/museum/hardware.asp?t=1&c=180&st=1 There was something called "Cumana expansion box" for the Oric, and according to the above mentioned web site "This expansion holds a power supply unit and a dual expansion port allowing the floppy disk u...

Re: IJK interface diagrams.

Address decoding compatibility is a big hurdle on the expansion bus: I was happy to find out that the mysterious device I asked about a couple years ago, IS indeed a MIDI+Serial interface, and it is designed to have an address range that does not conflict with the Microdisc, which probably means I ...

Re: IJK interface diagrams.

... Dbug (because he showed interest) and - if interested - kenneth and Silicebit. (for their help with the interface) would have priority on the waiting list. So only one unit would remain for someone else... Thank you very much for your offer, HigashiJun, but I'm more interested in the Protek pro...
