Re: TSN 1-2450A instead of LM7905

I can confirm the TSN 1-2450A was a "plug'n'play" replacement for me.

No need to cut any tracks, just desolder your old LM7905 and replace it with the TSN and voilà...

:D

Cheers !

Re: Oric cleaning :)

My last Atmos was quite discoloured (case bottom and red keys), and this magic spray made everything back to its original glory. You can give the retrobright method a try if you want to make yellowed plastics white again, but this process is not everlasting and you'll have to repeat it after 2-3 yea...

Re: IJK interface diagrams.

Now that I see this picture, it would almost make sense to make a variant of the IJK interface with the connector on the side instead of the center, so it does not overlays with the expansion port cable, but otherwise, looking good! It seems tight on the picture, but this design follows the charact...

Re: Protek joystick interface diagram ?

...and the Oric has its directional keys layout done very well. It's really nice to play Space: 1999 on it.

That said, I also like joysticks for certain games like Oricium or 1337...

Re: Protek joystick interface diagram ?

That's another potential issue to deal with... :(

As for me, the IJK interface is the best way to go by now.

Cheers.

Re: Protek joystick interface diagram ?

Oh, and I forgot, iss has also a Protek interface rebuild on its to-do list according to him. And there's an issue he has pointed: content of the PAL chips... I don't know if the TL866II plus would be able to read such chips. I know some of them had security fuses to prevent copycats from reading th...

Re: Protek joystick interface diagram ?

That's why the best thing to do (for me) would be to retro-engineer the Protek interface, unless you find someone able to provide you with the required diagrams. As I said, you can easily reproduce its PCB with the help of the pictures you'll find in one of the previously provided links. Al the info...

Re: Protek joystick interface diagram ?

I'm afraid that the best information you can find is the following one, from forum member Silicebit: http://retrowiki.es/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=100041346 It's not so difficult to recreate the interface PCB in Eagle or Kicad, so you can give it a chance. As already discussed in the forum, there is no wa...

CPU, EPROM, VIA, ULA, 74HC04 hex inverter and a batch of KM branded RAM have now all been verified to be working on board #1. Both multiplexers are new, so I don’t really suspect those.
Did you check if all the chips have the right voltage supplied ?

Re: Help with two Orics

One of my Atmos had several dead chips. I guess the previous owner used a wrong polarity PSU or a higher rated voltage one... It's quite frustrating, because you replace the chip you suspect to be defective but your machine still doesn't work, then you have to replace another one until everything go...

I don't think there's something for the Oric... The only 2 projects I know are the Pi1541 for the C64 and the CosmosEx for the Atari ST, but I might be wrong...
