Re: Cumana Reborn and OLED display

Sure, here are some details: The 1602 OLED display was bought in an online shop in Japan called KYOHRITSU. https://eleshop.jp/shop/g/gC4P123/ I guess you can however found the same kind of displays in your area. Just remember to choose a 5V one and not 3.3V. If you want to install this display, you ...

Cumana Reborn and OLED display

Just to show how the Cumana Reborn can be nice and match ATMOS colours, by swapping its original LCD display for an OLED one: Cumana.jpeg I just had to enlarge the opening in the bezel in order to fit the new OLED display. Of course, if you also swap the flat cable for a black one, the final result ...

Re: Atmos, WDC65C02 and WDC65C22N and other

@retroric: I have just found the article by Fabrice F. you mentioned in your post. The 15,625 Khz the Oric generates should not be a major problem to connect it to a VGA monitor, provided that monitor is able to handle such a signal. Here is a list of modern monitors supporting 15 Khz analog signal...

Re: Atmos, WDC65C02 and WDC65C22N and other

Another weird thing is when I launch the excellent DIAGROM (without any add-on cards): with the original VIA fitted, the "timer test" passes but when a 65C22N is inserted, timer test fails. As the code was written and tested against a 6522A (as standard) it's likely that it's missing something that...

Re: Atmos, WDC65C02 and WDC65C22N and other

Last interesting (?) thing: if I change the crystal oscillator for a 20 Mhz one, the ATMOS does not boot with the original 6502 CPU, supposed to support 2 Mhz (though its speed is only 1.66 Mhz with a 20 Mhz oscillator). However, with a WDC W65C02S8P-14, it boots and works flawlessly. Next time, I ...

Atmos, WDC65C02 and WDC65C22N and other

As my ATMOS is now fully working again, I am playing around with it and trying to fit various alternative chips, such as DRAM, CPU, VIA etc. Here are some random findings of my last experiences. I realised that a 65C02 CPU (pin bent and wire modded) works great and also a 65C22N VIA runs smoothly, b...

Re: Last ATMOS finally repaired !

- The ATMOS booted normally with its original ULA, but the "checker board pattern" had some artifacts. The boot screen is normal with the actual ULA. Does it also mean the original ULA chip is damaged ? The checkerboard pattern is an illusion created by the particular brand of DRAM chips you use. T...

Re: Last ATMOS finally repaired !

- One of the two AY-3-8912 PSG I tried only produced PING and ZAP sounds. SHOOT and EXPLODE had no effect. Does it mean the chip is defective or damaged ? PING and ZAP use the normal three channel generator, while SHOOT and EXPLODE are using the noise generator, so maybe something happened there. I...

Last ATMOS finally repaired !

I've been struggling to repair the last ATMOS I won on Ebay some time ago. To tell the truth, I had no much time to spend on it and this naughty boy was particularly reluctant to get back on feet... Here are two pictures of the mainboard, as I added sockets for every IC in order to be able to easily...

60Hz ROM

I think iss is the specialist here, but anyone else is also welcome to reply :D I'd like to know what bytes need to be changed in order to have a 60Hz ROM, especially 1.22 ROMS. iss nicely shared his ROMs archive in another thread, but this archive was lacking a 1.22 UK ROM (60Hz) still providing th...

Re: Eprom programmer suggestions?

The TL866II Plus is really nice, but maximum pin is only 40 pins (there might be some adapters...).
