Re: Request for Help (Pixel-Level Retouching)

Could be. It was a bit specific for my needs, but I shared the sources (the link is somewhere in this forum), so it could help.

I think a PC based editor with some advanced functionality and ability to import/export to different formats, would be nice!

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

Well, it is not at all my project and raxiss may have a completely different view of things (and probably they're right!), but for me it would be enough if it could store roms/games and provide a passthrough (even if only a switch that disables the board at the worst case). That way I can have my di...

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

Is the Smart Cartridge usable with other devices, like the Speech Synthesize, RS-232 interface, Cumulus/Cumana Reborn/Microdisc? Not sure if you ask about ORICART (most probably yes) or Dandanator! Mini. In any case, I *think* the former is not, because it does not seem to have a second expansion c...

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

First - as vertical the board size will be to small to place and route all chips, an alternative is 4-layer PCB but then the price jumps exponentially. We thought about vertical design but with 2 small PCBs as sandwich where the first PCB is "mother" and the second is only the memory (exactly as @D...

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

One question, is there any reason not to put the board vertically? I think it may be more convenient, thinking about space in the desk. And, if I might suggest something, it might be a good idea to keep functionality simple. A way to store roms (putting a diagnostic ROM would be really interesting) ...

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

... Are the demo frames being streamed as a video or is something rendered by software : In BadApple (made by @ rax !) all frames are LZ-compressed (~400K) and they are decompressed directly to video memory. The sound is PT3 (~8k). Interesting is that during playback there is kind of synchronizatio...

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

That was amazing! I'm particularly interested in: The music... how did you make the Oric sound so incredibly well? :) Can the cartridge store things like games in snapshots? How did you solve the MAP problems? This one is very interesting for future projects and solving issues for many oricians whic...

Re: Crediting people (source code fork, software archives, ...)

I agree with Dbug. I even put in my readme files that the game should not be distributed without the instructions and manuals, for that reason. Jede is in this forum, so it is simply a matter of asking him if he could just put the credits and a link to the game site on the readme file of each reposi...

But as I am a very poor game maker, I'm really struggling with the level design task.
I hadn't figured that level design was such a hard task .. :-(
I truly know the feeling :) but, indeed it is a matter of keep trying!

I was about to suggest you replace RAM and the RAM multiplexers. Those are nearly always the culprits with such symptoms. You simply were too fast :D

Re: Castoric : Raycasting on Oric computers

Great! I will have to give this a look in deep! I'm not sure who owns https://github.com/oric-software but it makes me sad to see all these projects cloned without any attribution: Oricium, Player Mym, Nyan Cat, etc... I think Jede owns this one... maybe to patch things so they load with orix or som...

Re: Oricutron HFE

Mmmm... not sure I explained myself properly. I agree with you, Steve. It would be great if Oricutron supported hfe, I was just stating that, as a maybe easier alternative, it could support esdk, for which there is already a two-way conversor.

Re: Oricutron HFE

In fact it does not need to support hfe directly, but any container format for which a conversion already exists. As I said before, Amstrad edsk is rather similar to Oric dsk and the HxC software can convert from hfe to it.

I put some links do information in some other post.
