Re: Oric V23 Modem

¡¡Please, STOP connecting the interface to RS232 port on your PC. Your PC is sending +12V, -12V pulses to a TTL input (+5V, 0V)!! Maybe the 7404 or the 6551 ACIA are already fried. :-( Quite a sensible advice! That is why I asked some posts ago about the voltages. Checking this is important. Howeve...

Re: Oric V23 Modem

By the way, an oscilloscope or signal analyser would do wonders debugging this... You can check the actual signal values when sending/receiving a byte and see what is going wrong whenever you get receiving errors.

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Should I just get this +5 signal from somewhere to CTS and or DSR as suggested by Chema? I really don't understand this idea ?! If this is to permanently activate (for instance) CTS - you should feed minus 5V relative to GND and disconnect the other side which sends RTS Could be nonsense, really. I...

You should try on Facebook groups or on ebay. The nova is quite rare and should sell easily.

Re: Oric V23 Modem

In null modem you don't need flow control, but I am not sure at all about how the serial interface behaves... What I can tell is that you can wire an cross rts/cts signals in null modem and select rts/acts as flow control and it works if both equipment support that, for instance two PCs. The fact th...

Re: Oricutron HFE

My emulator supports both CPC-style [e]DSK and HFE This is really nice! I think that eDSK is quite similar (albeit more powerful?) to the Oric DSK, so conversion/migration should not be that difficult. I know it could be a nightmare to convert all our games in all the repos, but if the emulator sup...

Re: Cumana Reborn DSK support

With 2A there should be no problem, imho. Dbug, does the Oric which does not like the Cumana work with Cumulus? I still think the bus signal problems (mainly MAP, which is precisely what is usually adjusted with a potentiometer) are to blame. iss wrote he found a solution by pure chance, but I am no...

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Back to the topic and to my post :)

I am sure you tried, but it makes no harm to ask... Did you try to feed +5 or -5 volts (to set mark or space) into CTS (and/or DSR)? It might be just a problem with the Oric side not signaling that the other side can transmit data...

Re: Oric V23 Modem

So, just to be back in context, here are the connections I had identified on the Oric RS232 interface: 1 - Black - DCD -> 7 2 - RED - TxD -> 2 3 - Green - RTS -> 4 4 - Orange - GND -> 3 5 - Blue - DTR -> 6 6 - White - RxD -> 5 7 - Brown - RxC -> 1 8 - Copper - GND -> Shield and how I wired these to...

Re: Space Cowboy - Demo [raxiss]

Oricium is text mode and it scrolls on a char basis too. I toyed with the idea of subchar scrolling in text mode by redefining characters. Dbug made a first attempt in C and I was thinking on something similar but with vertical scroll. Never actually did anything, unfortunately. The problem I always...

Re: Request for Help (Pixel-Level Retouching)

Could be. It was a bit specific for my needs, but I shared the sources (the link is somewhere in this forum), so it could help.

I think a PC based editor with some advanced functionality and ability to import/export to different formats, would be nice!

Re: ORICART - smart cartridge for Oric by [raxiss]

Well, it is not at all my project and raxiss may have a completely different view of things (and probably they're right!), but for me it would be enough if it could store roms/games and provide a passthrough (even if only a switch that disables the board at the worst case). That way I can have my di...
