Re: XA for beginner: multipart TAP files?

You can use the OSDK standard to do that, like you can define OSDKXAPARAMS to pass additional parameters, so in your case you could use something like OSDKXAPARAMS=-DGAMEINTRO for the first part and OSDKXAPARAMS=-DACTUALGAME for the second part and use something like #ifdef GAMEINTRO #endif #ifdef A...

Re: Tapes not loading

Personally I would start by using a blank tape and try to save a small BASIC program ("10 PRINT"HI!" is enough) to the tape, it's easy to hear if it was actually saved at all, then just rewind and try to CLOAD"" it again.

Re: XA for beginner: multipart TAP files?

The key here is do define your memory layout appropriately. What has been loaded, stays in memory, and can be reused in the second part. You can technically use a single .S file and conditional assembly, like pass on the XA command line a value using -DNAME=VALUE and then check in the code if this v...

Jasmin 2 manual

If you were looking for the manual for the Jasmin 2, you can now find it in the Oric Library.

Re: DOS on the Oric 1?

I assume they require a 48k Oric 1 though?
I guess there's no overlay ram on a 16K machine, or if it does, it's a wrapped around copy of the first 16KB?

DOS on the Oric 1?

I've been asked by email the following question:
Hello do you know where I can find
oric D.o.s for oric 1.any disc size will do. Thank you.
and that made me realize that I've no idea if any of the DOS (Oric DOS, Randos, Sedoric, FT-Dos, ...) are compatible with the Oric 1.

Feedback welcome :)

Re: Changing TEXT / HIRES display size?

I need to think about it, and generally that involves taking a piece of paper and writing down the various section of screen and which address maps to what, knowing you have the charsets somewhere around the middle. So if I understand well, you want: 2 lines in TEXT at the top of the 240x200 area 16...

Re: XA: playing with tables

[*]# is ALWAYS used to denote an immediate value, and when used for that it's always the first character of the expression, you can't put it in the middle. Thanks, that's what I was missing! (it's a bit confusing for a beginner to have to use #ZERT if it's at the beginning, or ZERT if it's inside a...

Re: XA: playing with tables

One thing to remember, is that # and () have very specific meanings in 6502, tied to the addressing mode, so you can't just put them at any random place: 6502 only support one expression, so no matter what you enters it has to make sense as something that can be evaluate to something that matches an...

Re: Erebus.

Somebody on Twitter poked me for a problem they have on their Oric 1, apparently when Erebus is connected there's just garbage on the screen. Any idea of what that could be? (It's a 48k Oric 1, and apparently the power regulator was replaced by the Trapco model). See: https://twitter.com/maded2/stat...

Re: Using overlay memory: how, tips and possibility for direct save/load

Glad you managed to solve it :) If there's one thing maybe, I find it disturbing that the selected menu item loses the highlight color when you show the menu list, would be nicer I think if the "File" background stayed white when the Save screen/Load screen/Save Project... options are disp...
