Re: Oric V23 Modem

Yeah, the usb adapter I use definitely don't send anything above 5 volt.

Regarding the various "232" things available, what about these FTDI "TTL-232R-5V" or "TTL-232R-3V3", is that equivalent to adding a MAX232, or is it just another USB to serial?

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Hi Mike! I think you don’t have a real RS232 interface. Please, could you take a pic of inside of interface? Not possible, it's all in a blob of melted plastic, but the author of Oricomms did it back in the days, the schematics look like that: https://twitter.com/DefenceForceOrg/status/135779588996...

Re: Cumana Reborn DSK support

Imo, if that was a power problem, that would have impacted all the floppies.
One thing I did not try is to use another USB stick.

Re: Hardware boxes scans

Not that I know of, but would be nice to have some proper unfolded ones in high resolution, to reprint boxes :D

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Looks like the hint maybe that this interface only uses the ACIA 6551 without anything else behind. All the RS232 interfaces I've seen that are based on the 6551 seem to use a MAX 232 as well, to do something the signals. http://oric.free.fr/hardware.html - you don't need the MAX232 circuit if you o...

Re: Oric V23 Modem

So, I finally got my null modem cable, and when I try to talk between my PC and the Oric (Using 9600 bauds, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, parity none) what happens is that what I type on the Oric keyboard appears on the PC (tested with both PuTTY and Termite), but what I type on the PC is weird, it's lik...

Re: dflat - work in progress game and deployment question

So on a real machine - what are the options? By the way dflat does not have native disk handling, only tape input/output - I wonder is there a way to ship the entire 64K memory space as a snapshot? - I think there is the possibility to make dflat load from disc then make itself resident in the RAM ...

Re: Cumana Reborn DSK support

This Oric works perfectly with my Cumulus as well as Microdisc + Gotek combo :)
And also with the RS232 and SPO256 Speech Synthesizer.

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Back to the topic and to my post :) I am sure you tried, but it makes no harm to ask... Did you try to feed +5 or -5 volts (to set mark or space) into CTS (and/or DSR)? It might be just a problem with the Oric side not signaling that the other side can transmit data... Nope, I've not, I'm still wai...

Re: A new well-known compiler

Well, I decided to update to most recent version all compilers and to re-run the benchmark. ... and the result is full disappointment! :( (...) You can see how the size of the compiled binary grows for CC65 and VBCC, without any remarkable speed improvements. This is indeed sad. Maybe looking at th...
