Re: Oricutron - windows issue?

I can confirm that the version of Oricutron that comes with the OSDK, it's stuck on "insert system disc", with the cursor blinking.

Re: The BIKE Atmos system.

My point was just: more older sticker means more pain by removing :). I don't actually agree with that, many of the stickers I had on retro computers stuff, either on cardboard boxes, tapes, computers themselves, etc... are generally trivial to remove (undamaged) with a hair drier because the glue ...

Re: The BIKE Atmos system.

Well, the left part of the sticker is just some control code values for the attributes, and characters, in normal and video invert mode (+128). So as indicated in the Appendix 2, page 232 of the Oric Atmos Manual: 0 = BLACK INK 128 = 128 + 0 = INVERTED BLACK INK 144 = 128 + 16 = INVERTED BLACK PAPER...

Cool, crossing fingers!

Could you take a close-up picture of the small label on the top of the oric?

Re: Oric V23 Modem

The Oric interface uses 5v signals, which makes it compatible with the Minitel device which is why there is no Max242 chip to convert the voltage signals, even if the inputs of the minitel tolerate voltages up to 18v and -18v. So, based on the schematics, what would be the simplest way to get this ...

Re: Space Cowboy - Demo [raxiss]

Yeah, that can actually work for many elements in many different types of games, obviously that put some constraints on the level design, but for things like canons, trees, clouds, or even "floating bonuses" or general collision elements, having them snapped to a multiple of 2 vertical position is n...

Re: Space Cowboy - Demo [raxiss]

I still can't imagine a good mix of the two modes lores0 and lores1. I change the charset between lores 0 and lores 1 every other line so that I could have the two charsets available for my tiles. Many graphic element designs have tiles which are exclusively used in odd/even rows. That makes sense ...

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Yeah, the usb adapter I use definitely don't send anything above 5 volt.

Regarding the various "232" things available, what about these FTDI "TTL-232R-5V" or "TTL-232R-3V3", is that equivalent to adding a MAX232, or is it just another USB to serial?

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Hi Mike! I think you don’t have a real RS232 interface. Please, could you take a pic of inside of interface? Not possible, it's all in a blob of melted plastic, but the author of Oricomms did it back in the days, the schematics look like that: https://twitter.com/DefenceForceOrg/status/135779588996...

Imo, if that was a power problem, that would have impacted all the floppies.
One thing I did not try is to use another USB stick.

Re: Oric V23 Modem

Looks like the hint maybe that this interface only uses the ACIA 6551 without anything else behind. All the RS232 interfaces I've seen that are based on the 6551 seem to use a MAX 232 as well, to do something the signals. http://oric.free.fr/hardware.html - you don't need the MAX232 circuit if you o...
