Re: Oric tapes not in TOSEC

Another option (but only for off-line usage) is Oric Gamebase which is still available for download. It has lot of additional info and materials and it's really pity that @dave3622 discontinued its updates.

Re: Lode Runner for Oric by [raxiss]

@dizzy33: Yes, the game works excellent with IJK-egoist. However, if i'm not sure but it need 2 buttons on the stick ! Well, it depends - the original MSX/BBC/C64 versions work with 1-fire button joysticks, other (like Apple) use 2-fire-buttons. The tricky detail is when you want to dig at left but ...

Re: Lode Runner for Oric by [raxiss]

When will it be available? I plan a short vacation, so probably in July. Curious how the Oric version will compare soon, but great to have another game where I can do a side by side comparison on two screens with the C64 version running at the same time as the Oric version. Of course the Oric is be...

Lode Runner for Oric by [raxiss]

Hello, my fellow Oric gamers! 1983... an Apple][ computer... a 15-years-old teenager touches the keyboard for first time... He looks in a book and types-in some BASIC lines, what a surprise - on the display appears a circle! The lesson is over and someone inserts something black and rectangular int...

BTW do you know any technique to restore track isolation?
On youtube are some videos about solder mask restoration (like this random one). I personally never tried such UV coating. Another easy option can be GF's nail polish :).

TEAC FD-55GFR - best 5.25" floppy for retro hacking

Hello all, This is not directly related to Oric but I'm posting it here with the hope that the info will be helpful. In the attached archive you will find info about the famous floppy drive TEAC FD-55GFR and some hardware mods which can be done with it allowing HD/DD mode selection and 80/40 tracks ...

Re: A problematic Oric 1

Ciao, @ rh47 , the beer is very good way for motivation! Although in Italy are many many other delicious things to try and left the beer as table-water replacement :D Now to the Oric: measuring the signal at ULA's pin 39 (i.e. pin 14 of IC20) with oscilloscope is bit tricky - I found that if the pro...

Re: use OSDK under Linux ?

Congrats from me too! :) @ xahmol : And to take your Makefile to a whole new level here is a small kick-start how to run your compiled project in Oricutron with auto-load of symbols and break-points for debugging: # # # Name your project PROJECT := LUDO PROJECT_DIR := $(shell pwd) # # # Project targ...

Re: use OSDK under Linux ?

I'm very glad to help!
Now It's up to you what to use for your projects: bash-scripts, makefiles, cmake ... etc or even code::blocks or vscode as replacement of the MSDOS batch files :). I've made a Makefile-based project management system and we (with @rax) are using it for our projects.

Re: use OSDK under Linux ?

So not able to build in Linux yet, If somebody can give me some pointers, appreciated! EDIT: Well, here we go: 1. Create a working directory in your home (for instance OSDK-build) and cd to it: mkdir ~/OSDK-build cd ~/OSDK-build 2. Download attached bash script and extract it to ~/OSDK-build. Make ...

Re: A problematic Oric 1

OK! Most probably it's broken track - a long and boring work but need to be done.
With oscilloscope it will be more quickly and easy :).
Keep going!

HM4864P-2 and HM4864-2 are 150ns access time 270ns cycle time according to the data sheet so they should be okay. HM4864-3 are the 200ns part.
Yes, you are right @Vyper68! It's always good to RTFM!!!

Re: A problematic Oric 1

Guys it's me again... Is there a minimum and safe number of RAM ICs to start testing? I mean, I know at least a couple of ICs must be inserted to allow ROM find space to load, but the IC numeration is puzzling me (e.g. IC13 is not numbered and it falls between IC18 and IC20). Is the IC20 the first ...

Re: A problematic Oric 1

HI there, so I tested the Oric with i ss ROM. As soon as I power the mainboard I've got no "busy" signal. After a reset button push the tone is present. No RAM inserted. So at this point I guess I have a problem during the ROM bootstrap and definitively with RAM communication. I can't explain mysel...
