The universal receipt to satisfy almost all user preferences is simply to give the choice to the user himself.
So, just add some different backs and pressing 'B' will cycle them :lol:

... do you think there might be a chance that it wouldn't suffer from the same sync "problems", or is there no reason it would? The MB8877A is drop-in replacement for WD1793 the only difference is that MB8877A doesn't require +12V (pin 40 is simply not bonded internally). I read (again :D...

@Stan: Cool! I like the pattern test, 64/256 detection and MAX_ERRORS improvements.
Not sure about new 'blink' mode (IMO the speed-up comes mainly because no in-test blinking).
I'll test asap and make the changes 'official' :wink:

Fixing the sound should be easy when AY replacement comes.
Check the C2 is looks like broken on the photo but maybe it's only the shadow of C1.

Just say: now Clock Signal works for me on my old mac mini (late 2012):
