Re: Pulsoids

I would love to play this, even if it's not fully functional, just to get a sense of 'wandering round' those locations.

I guess it won't work on my Atmos / Erebus so I will try on Oricutron

Re: Le Diamant de l'île maudite

Thanks, that's helpful to know -- I started to see that but was too tired to figure out how it all worked. I will come back to it when I have a free full evening! And get out my notepad and make a map, old school. Memories of escaping the goblins' dungeon and 'The nasty goblin captures you...' come ...

Le Diamant de l'île maudite

Looking for a change of pace, I tried Le Diamant de l'île maudite last night! My French is passable (J'ai étudié le francais au niveau 'A Level' et il y a vingt ans je parlais pas mal) but of course I haven't really played adventure games in French before so guessing the keywords was a bit of a prob...

Re: Rat Splat 🐀

Fast, fun, furious... I only wish there was a bit more variation between the levels, because it does get samey. Chuckie Egg is a similar platformer in many ways, but with Chuckie Egg each level added significant new difficulties, and Chuckie Egg has that moment when the big yellow bird -- which you ...

Rat Splat 🐀

Yesterday was Pulsoids, today was Rat Splat. I guess most folks on this forum grew up with this game, as I understand it was an Oric original, developed by Tansoft. Was it packaged with some of the original machines? As a Sinclair kid, I never had a chance to play this before. There was no direct no...

Thanks for linking that, Symoon. I read the obituary. He sounds like a wonderful character.

Re: Pulsoids

Thanks for all the replies. I've been playing again today in-between Zoom meetings :)

Do I understand correctly that Twilighte, the developer, has now passed away? :(

Pulsoids

I loaded a bunch of games on to my Erebus last night.

Pulsoids -- what a joy to ply. Simple, effective, smooth, addictive. Everything that a great arcade game should be. And making the most of the Oric's hardware. Chapeau.

Futureproofing my Oric Atmos

I'm a Sinclair kid, but a couple of years ago I bought an Oric Atmos. I love the machine. I haven't a lot of time to play with it, but it is out again this week. My machine seems pretty robust but I have a couple of questions about the future: - I'm still using the original PSU; is there a replaceme...

Re: Hello from Bristol

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys! :D

I've had a busy couple of weeks at my day job, so haven't seen the latest replies until today. But this week is a little less busy, and I'm looking forward to firing up the Atmos again and playing some of these games

Re: Skool Daze

I didn't know about the colour options! I'll have to experiment with that. I love the sandbox feel of Skool Daze as well. Hours of amusement of messing round and getting Einstein into trouble. I've read interviews with the original programmer, Dave Reidy, who seems mildly amused by the fact that peo...

Re: Skool Daze

The first piece of software I added to my Erebus was Chema's amazing version of Skool Daze for the Oric! I can confirm it's fully working and looks incredible on a real Oric Atmos. Now, I've got to get over to the Map Room quick for Geography before Withit comes looking for me... :D image_2021-02-10...

Re: Hello from Bristol

oric erebus.png The Erebus has arrived for my Oric Atmos! It came preloaded with a few TAP files -- including a side-scroller called Krillys, pictured here! And I had a go at Scuba Dive. I didn't realise it was originally made for the Oric and then adapted for the Spectrum! What are your suggestion...
