Re: Murders in Venice
Wow this looks absolutely amazing - fantastic work! We needed games like this back in the day, it would have (in the UK) been a serious competitor to the ZX Spectrum! I need to get much better at AIC approach to graphics - and indeed programming the Oric in general!

Re: 10 Line BASIC Competition 2022!
Dear rax - I have been not logging on to the forum recently due to being busy and it also stopped me from submitting something for the compeition. But I want to congratulate you again for winning 2022!! Fantastic work and I have learned a few things looking through your code. I love that an Oric ent...

Re: 10 Line BASIC Competition 2022!
Yay - it will great to have you again this year!
You set a high standard for yourself by winning the PUR-80 category! But I agree it is even more about the participation, fun and showing that Oric has a following too, not only the C64, Spectrum, Atari etc..

Re: 10 Line BASIC Competition 2022!
Ok this is good, looks like maybe we will have more than two Oric authors for the competition this year - will be good to balance against all the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Atari 800XL and Amstrad-Schneider submissions that one often sees!

Re: 10 Line BASIC Competition 2022!
We all have too many projects! But The Hobbit optimisations will be fantastic if you can find a way, so good luck to you with that!
Hopefully one or two others will have a go at the 10 line competition - it's fun, by the way!!

10 Line BASIC Competition 2022!
I haven't been on here for a while, just due to other distractions but I hope everyone is doing well. But I wanted to quickly point out that the 2022 10 line BASIC competition is under way. The deadline for submissions is Saturday, March 26, 2022, 6 p.m. CET, with the award ceremony on Saturday, Apr...

Re: is the Oric rom open source ?
I guess technically if the ROM contains unlicensed Microsoft code, it's already shady on a legal point of view: "Is it illegal to use without authorization something made from unlicensed code" :) Here is a solution - we can use dflat! It is created by me from scratch and I have made it op...

Re: Projects we are working on :)
This is awesome work! I have not had the opportunity to be on here for a while, but I have been on Twitter and YouTube where I have seen iss and rax. As rax mentioned - I am pursuing #Orictober with videos almost daily about the Oric-1 and Oric Atmos. I have so far; - Shown some old games - Given a ...

Re: Another one 10 lines competition.
rax has been knocking the ball for 6 (a cricket term!) with these 10 line marvels!
Even more awesome would be indeed an international Oric meet - we may need to wait for a while, but the Oric will still be around I'm sure

Re: Krillys - real hardware and tape!
I guess it didn't sell that well as there were a lot of cassette inlays left over. This is one of the reasons it was chosen as a freebie with Sedoric. Those that registered got the Sedoric manual and Krillys inlay. Tapes are so slow after using disks. I only use them when I don't have the game on d...

Re: dflat - work in progress game and deployment question
Thank you everyone for the ideas and guidance. I think to load dflat in to RAM would be quite a compromise - not only is the 16K ROM range not used, but as dflat needs the full 16K of space, means taking 16K away from free RAM (need to leave space for hi-res etc.). However it is an option - although...

Krillys - real hardware and tape!
I thought this might bring some memories.. I have had the Oric-1 since 1983 and the Krillys tape and tape player since around 1984. Using the same hardware I had as a boy, I was amazed that the tape loaded and played perfectly only a few days ago after 37 years. I have done no maintenance on the tap...
