Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
Orices are well known to chant the activity on the Data/Address bus. If you look at PCB, you will see that the audio out track of the AY-3-8910 is crossing both data and address bus. As it is before the amplification stage, the noise ig get from these is amplified, and ending in the main HP noises....

Re: Maxduino now plays Oric native tap files
I have loaded Snowball (30,734 bytes) on my setup:-
1200 baud : 3 minutes 30 seconds to load
3850 baud : 2 minutes 5 seconds to load
A definite speed up!

Re: Maxduino now plays Oric native tap files
More awesomeness! In preparation of the bits I need to reflash my TZXDuino arriving I have installed the IDE etc. Noob question alert! What do I actually need to download to get the latest version? My screen is already configured and working - will changing the firmware alter this or is that done se...

Re: Maxduino now plays Oric native tap files
Popped it out of its case:
5V is fairly obvious! And the trace at the back of the PCB goes to the VCC pin.
Header pins, cables and programmer ordered.

Re: Maxduino now plays Oric native tap files
Turns out I have one of these in the nice 3D printed case:
Looks like I will need to get some sort of serial TTL programmer for it.
Anyone have any recommendations (for a UK purchase)? Preferably cheap! It won’t be getting a huge amount of use.

Re: Maxduino now plays Oric native tap files
I have this up and running thanks to some slightly off topic discussions on the SinclairZXWorld forum! Not managed to download and convert any games yet (not had spare time) but the samples I was sent by Rafa work really well.

Re: Volume control options on an Oric 1
Thanks both. An ideal solution would be to simply disconnect the internal speaker and run a cable to a hifi or maybe set of powered PC speakers.

Volume control options on an Oric 1
Apologies if this has been asked before (newbie here!) but what are the volume control options for the internal speaker? Mine is ridiculously loud! I guess an obvious one would be to fit a resistor in an appropriate place to permanently limit the volume (to a more family friendly level) and I have s...

Re: Atmos excessive buzzing from speaker
I have recently got my first Oric 1 and I’m sure the speaker was pretty silent when not in use but now makes an audible noise. Purring is a pretty good description! I replaced the caps but that made no difference. When I switch on it is quiet but as soon as it gets to the main BASIC prompt it is mak...
