Re: My new Cumana drive ;)

Hello Zaxon, I woold have a question concerning the Cumana Drive I bought from you. Mine was working fine (connected to one of my Atmos) but suddenly one day, the screen started to display weird characters on only one half of it... Is this a problem related to the BIOS chip and is there a way to get...

Re: Monitor or TV?

If you happen to find some old Commodore Amiga CRT monitors, they generally have a super good picture quality. Some don't have SCART, but they accept easily RGB signal, and the pinout of the DB-9 connector is available, you can just direct- connect the pins without any resistors or added power and ...

Re: Monitor or TV?

SCART is not mandatory anymore in France since 2015 (don't know in UK though...). So if you live in France, old TV sets will have it but not newer ones. There's no SCART where I live but I use the cable you mentioned in your post combined with other stuff as stated in the post below: http://forum.de...

Re: Help with two Orics

Thank you mikeb ! My bad, I have just realized that my Atmos has two factory ELCAP 74HCT04 (and not 74HC04)... I think this chip is not a problem according to the following page: http://ecomorder.com/techref/postbot.asp?by=thread&id=Difference+between+74HC04+and+74LS04&w=body&tgt=top where it says t...

Re: Help with two Orics

So you guys think it's better to stay with the 74LS04 ? My actual Atmos (I'm still repairing) has a factory 74HC04 soldered in. As I think it's faulty, I'm about to replace it with the same reference. I've also seen Orics with 74F04 (but not 74S04), but I heard somewhere that 74HC04 works flawlessly...

Re: Oric cleaning :)

Yes, I think this Atmos was placed somewhere in direct sunlight for a long period...

Never had Oric-1s, but they always seem very clean and not yellowed at all on auction sites.

It's really worth it... The Oric stays very cool. You should definitely give it a try.

Re: TSN 1-2450A instead of LM7905

I can confirm the TSN 1-2450A was a "plug'n'play" replacement for me.

No need to cut any tracks, just desolder your old LM7905 and replace it with the TSN and voilà...

:D

Cheers !

Re: Oric cleaning :)

My last Atmos was quite discoloured (case bottom and red keys), and this magic spray made everything back to its original glory. You can give the retrobright method a try if you want to make yellowed plastics white again, but this process is not everlasting and you'll have to repeat it after 2-3 yea...

Re: IJK interface diagrams.

Now that I see this picture, it would almost make sense to make a variant of the IJK interface with the connector on the side instead of the center, so it does not overlays with the expansion port cable, but otherwise, looking good! It seems tight on the picture, but this design follows the charact...

Nice and clean ! For those interested, here's a good product able to bring back nice tones to discolored plastic cases and keys: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Owatrol-Polytrol-ATO-Support-Renovator/dp/B005A3NSFG/ref=pd_sbs_60_2/262-8244107-9803420?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B005A3NSFG&pd_rd_r=d5e69b58-0e1c-4...

Re: Protek joystick interface diagram ?

...and the Oric has its directional keys layout done very well. It's really nice to play Space: 1999 on it.

That said, I also like joysticks for certain games like Oricium or 1337...

Re: Protek joystick interface diagram ?

That's another potential issue to deal with... :(

As for me, the IJK interface is the best way to go by now.

Cheers.
