TapOric - android TAP player for Oric

A short story with happy-end from today:
The main reason to delay TapOric's first release was actually the fact that I've had problems to make it work
with one particular device: Asus Zenphone 4. I made hundreds tests but loading always failed with errors.
Last week I started again to try to fix the problem and with help of some filtering the 'fast' loading finally works!
Here are pictures of signal shape with different levels of filtering (from bad to good):

After all that work I suddenly realized that I have one more phone of the same model!
... and surprise - it works like a champ without any filtering just like all other models I used to test!

So it's confirmed: to use TapOric you need a working phone!

Ha ha nice, this reminds me of spending hours failing at making Novalight work after I changed a few things, then realising that actually my PC playing the WAV file needed rebooting...

@Symoon: It would be great to include Novalight in next version. You can PM me the source and don't worry about its style

Well, I just released it, with the source
So you can now pick it up and I hope you can adapt it (48kHz might be a problem as it is tuned for 44kHz... Hoping it won't give headaches)

Hey @ISS and everyone, I am up and running ! This app is awesome, it' what I have needed for my setup for years !

When I loaded Zorgons Revenge it worked first time and I have since loaded several more games without issues.

Things I would like to see ...

The option to add art work for the box to the app in the menu.
The option to show the artwork on the screen of the device when the game is loading.

Both cosmetic and very much 'would like to haves' but if you can do it I would be most appreciative.

Hi @ISS, how close are we to a new release? I have discovered the Novalight tool from Symoon and was wondering if you are integrating his code? Also the cosmetic loading pics I mentioned would just set this up lovely.

Hi,

I downloaded your TapOric and I am just getting going with it.

I have loaded some basic demos but always get error msg, when I list it, some lines are changed, so obviously it working 90%.

The problem is I am using a makeshift cable from an old headphone 4 pole to a solder DIN plug for the Oric Atmos, so I will keep working on it and report back.

But Congrat on getting the TapOric deisgned and working a great achievement.

I'm new here so not sure how do I download some of the machne code .tap files like xenon etc. ?

Register and sign in at Oric.org, then go to the Software section of the site. Find the game you want (e.g. Xenon 1 here https://www.oric.org/software/xenon_1-105.html) and the 'Tape File' text is a hyperlink to the download.

I think it will work fine with that device. I've tested with Android 9 and TapOric works.
I'm preparing the new version which will have the promised faster protocols and check-for-update feature.

I was beta-testing Novalight v1.3 but struggled with an unexpected behaviour, when I switched back to tapes transfers.
So you still have time until next version :p

Hi all!

I've got a right cable and I've successfully loaded some games!

But how can I load "L'aigle d'or"? It is split in two parts, and if I load the first and the second part, after the introduction with the instructions it says "chargement du logiciel principal" and it doesn't nothing.
