OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
My Avast! antivirus protection complains about Bas2Tap.exe each time I try to download the OSDK zip archive...
Is this just a false positive of Avast or there is really a bad boy in Bas2Tap ???

There's no virus as I know of, can you give me the exact link you are using to download the osdk? (just to reproduce exactly as you do)
Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
I've been using OSDK for ages and I have the last version (I think) and my antivirus never complained (I am using Security Essentials, though, so who knows... ).
I doubt there is anything strange. Just be sure to download it from the official page here at defence-force

Hello DBug,
Here are the links :
From the forum : http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=811
With this link you provided : http://osdk.defence-force.org/files/osdk_0_20.zip
And from the OSDK page, here : http://osdk.defence-force.org/
or here : http://osdk.defence-force.org/history.htm
The problem raises for any archive...
Avast! tells me that it found "Win32.evo-gen[Susp]"

Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
I think it is an Avast problem since it is OK for 47 antivirus on ww.virustotal.com
Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
Interestingly, if I try to download from the site I also get avast complaining.
If I disable avast and download the archive, then re-enable avast and then right click the archive and select "scan for virus", it finds nothing.
If I try to extract the archive with avast enabled it will complain, but if I disable avast, extract the files, then reenable and try to run/scan bas2tap, it finds nothing.
Sounds like a bug/false positive.
That sucks :p

Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
No problem with Symantec endpoint security 12
Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
NOD32 is good with it too no problemo.
Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
Damned, since a few, I have got my Avast complaining when I launch Bas2Tap.exe , directly suppressed by Avast
Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
I have all my work/oric/demo/oracle folders in the Avast exclude list because it kept quarantining perfectly valid files.
Re: OSDK : Virus in Bas2Tap.exe ????
So why do you use avast?
Regular check with combofix is usually enough. I use nod32 too.

Because it used it without any problem these last 9 years and issues only started like one or two months ago.peacer wrote:So why do you use avast?

Generally just reporting the false positives fixes the problem, but this time it seems to be more deeply broken.
