Symoon wrote:EDIT: ok, no panic I guess. Had time to test on the other Oric-1 and on one Atmos, same behaviour. Here's the exact situation: I can press ESC during the demo, Y or N to launch the tutorial, then no keys respond anymore. I guess it's my disk copy that is faulty, but I can't make another one here. Will have to try again in a few weeks...
Yep, I am aware of this behaviour. I posted about it too... Something that none of the current emulators implement (the direction of the IO port of the PSG).

I have solved it, but did not want to release until we have support for the Telestrat too (which is becoming tricky: now it works under the emulator in telestrat mode, but not on the real machine :x )

I will send you a dsk of the current version, which should have this bug solved (unless I broke something while trying to support the Telestrat).

Cheers

Thanks for the credits.

Did I mention that this is really, really impressive work?

Do not use the Telestrat mode of Oricutron for development. It doesn't really work, is very incomplete, and probably should have been disabled for the 0.7 release as it is a pure work in progress.

Use Euphoric for Telestrat mode for the time being.

Yep, I have been using euphoric (latest build) in telestrat+stratoric cartridge.

We are still working on this, well Fabrice Frances is, as disk read routines seem to fail in the real Telestrat for an unknown reason :(

I hope he gets a clue of what is going on, so we can not only have a working version of 1337 for the Telestrat, but also better emulation of this machine. Will post details as soon as I have them...

Also the game has been commented in this thread
http://www.retromaniax.gr/vb/showthread.php?t=12537

which is in greek :( I have translated it with babelfish to have an idea of the comments, but still the translation is terrible. Anyway, just for the records...

@thrust26, thanks for your comments about the game. I will change your name in the credits (in the readme file). I could also see if I can tweak it in the intro. Easy to put Thrust26 instead of just thrust, but don't know how it will look like with your real (long) name...

Whatever fits better. But it is thrust26 (not Thrust26). ;)

Well, all the latest Oric projects are mentioned in this article of Oldschool Gaming:

http://oldschool-gaming.com/view_articl ... 010_review

They say:
There was monumental news for Oric lovers because, after a couple of years in the wilderness, they were smothered with programming love; isometric action came from "television tie-in" Space: 1999, flick screen platform fans could enjoy rescuing fairies with the Stormlord, a conversion of Epyx classic Impossible Mission invited players to stay a while, stay forever and then there was the truly remarkable; a graphically beefed up, programmed from scratch homage to Elite which pretty much had to be titled 1337 really, didn't it?
And they give 1337 the Oldschool Gaming Game Of The Year Award :)

Really nice, isn't it?

Chema: If this was not an homage to the incredible work you did, I don't know what this Oldschool Gaming Game Of The Year Award is!

Well deserved congratulations!

Thanks! and a big thankyou to all who helped (I see you're still here thrust26)

This illustrates my point about the new games rating in oric.org. New Oric games are comparable now to the best games of similar 8-bit machines... oldies and even new games.

Dbug, maybe it could be a good idea to update the first post in this thread with a mention to this article? And maybe mention the award in the 1337 page?

Not only did 1337 get the game-of-the-year accolade from Old School Gaming, it was also my no. 1 for 2010 in Micro Mart (when I looked back on the year that was).

It beat of stiff competition from Bob Smith's Virus for the Sinclair ZX81+16K and Jet Set Willy 16K by Jonathan Cauldwell and Matthew Smith.

So, err... well done!

Regards,

Shaun.

That is very kind indeed.

Never thought that 1337 would have visibility outside our little community to be frank.

Thanks indeed!

Funny that the upcoming new mobile provider in France put a webpage to prepare it's launch with a rocket and the number 1337...

Apparently David Braben is trying to make an updated version of Elite, called "Elite/Dangerous":
