Twilighte's IM music
Twilighte's IM music
Hi guys!
Accidentally I stumbled upon lots of files Twilighte stored in defence-force's ftp. I didn't know they were there at all! Many sources, demos, screenshots... things I thought lost forever are still there, such as the sources of his O-Type prototype or this video:

Impressive...

Hello,
Jonathan's sister sent me 2 months after Jonathan death a CD. There some source code (some part of Times of lore for example).
I could put some source code on github (like Times of lore).

Re: Twilighte's IM music
It would be great! Preserving everything would be wonderful!
Re: Twilighte's IM music
Some impressively sounding instruments, the sequence from 1'55" has some very deep bass line!
Re: Twilighte's IM music
Yep. And the drums are also very nice. I wish we knew how he did that. Having the source data of the song would be nice..

Jonathan has done a lot of incredible things on oric.
It would be great if these devs could be used for some games or devs.
Putting the devs on github or defence-force repo will be a nice gift for oric community.

Re: Twilighte's IM music
I've been searching (for hours and maybe days) for the source of this music in Twilighte's archive his family sent us, but didn't find it as it was in the video sadly.
I've really been seeking for strings in the DSK files and so on... Hope someone gets more lucky

Chema, where is this? I see some stuff in the SVN, but can't seem to connect to the ftp ..
>Twilighte
He was truly an inspiring presence in my life, as I re-discovered the Oric-1 after ignoring it for a decade or two. Twi was the first person I met in the scene, who really proved to me that the Oric-1 was all the machine I'd thought it was. He really pushed the system to be really, really great .. in so many small ways.
I remember about having conniptions seeing the great way he used color in his games.
So now, I'm gonna go dig through what he left for us. I'm sure there are so many great things to discover, he truly was an Oric master.

Re: Twilighte's IM music
Well, the exact same discussion poped-up in another topic
So here is the disk I found that held the Impossible Mission music, not exactly as on the video, but the closest I found.
Speed is not good, and maybe other details but I'm not quite sure anymore.
This is on a disk called WAVE200.dsk
Follow the sequence once booted:
1- launch WAVE Editor
2- go into FILE/LOAD menu
3- erase existing music: YES
4- type the name of the file to load without extension: MISSION
5- go back to EDIT menu
6- play the file with the ">" icon at the right of the menu bar
I don't know how to change the speed.

Re: Twilighte's IM music
And here's the mp3 of the music I was talking about.
IIRC it's a direct dump from the video, but I put it on stereo and generated a small delay between left and right channels, to try give it some larger dimension. Quite a simple trick, but I was happy with the result; hope you like it too (it may sound a bit too much like reverb, maybe... But it doesn't bother me).

Re: Twilighte's IM music
Ah, really nice. Thank you. So it is done in Wave 2.0. I tried that when I was creating the music for 1337 and, when I had something with pitchbends and some nice volume effects, I had to get back to an older version because Twi never produced the compiler, so music could not be exported or played outside the editor...
Then he moved into creating another editor
I will have a look at this. Pity you did not post this (or I did not see it) a couple of days back. I was at a party yesterday with my Oric and people would have been impressed by hearing this tune playing.
As a side note you've got the manual (versions 1.x) here http://wiki.defence-force.org/doku.php? ... ave_manual
