Is there any chance you could put this on a site where it doesn't try to infect my system with a trojan (MacKeeper is a trojan), and/or doesn't require the ability to post to my social media accounts?

I've just had somebody over on the Gamebase 64 website say pretty much the same thing which baffles me. I've never had an issue with the "4shared.com" site before and others seem to be able to use it ok. I will gladly upload the file to another site if you can recommend a suitable one to me.

Maybe it shows up differently for different folks .. for me its definitely a hassle - I fired up a browser in VM, created a fake email address, and downloaded it that way - but thats not your average every day click of a URL.

A better service might be mega?

Just discovered dropbox, hopefully it's better than 4shared.

It's a good job I have fibre broadband now. It used to take 5-6 hours to upload a Gamebase, now it takes 10 minutes!!

I have created another mirror. Mega.co.nz is a very fast and free server too. Without any ads and waiting time, no subscription needed.

4shared was really pain..

Thank you for all your efforts !!

This will be the last version of Gamebase Oric as I no longer have the enthusiasm to continue with the project. It seems only myself and a few others have any interest in it, unlike other Gamebases such as the C64 version. I need to thank the people who helped me with this project; Symoon, Didier, Dbug, Musepat and most of all Steve Marshall who provided me with a lot of DSK images and magazine scans that I had never seen before. A huge thank you to you guys.

I really like the Gamebase for Oric and I'm so happy to use your new release v3.0.
Having all that info for 1500 Oric games well ordered and easy to search and use is very valuable for me.
It will be very pity to know it's discontinued ...
Thanks for your hard work, dave3622!

Thanks Dave for your work.
I'm a fan of these bases which allow us to try our old games with a friendly interface.

Currently, i'm sorting all my oric files to make a tosec list which will allow us to check our files lost in our hds.
After that, i'll update oric.org with all files supplied by steve, musepat, dave ...

For dave's work about oric community
hip hip hip hurrah !

PS : it's quite easier to get your oric base on dropbox. Thanks

Nice! Dave, you're saying that because you spend a lot of time (and money?) on this new version and, as often in the Oric world, there isn't that much feedback... But I'm sure you'll be back to it some day, you and I can't resist for long to an unknown tape

No please do not stop this is awesome !

I understand you as I didn't have much feedback on the OS X versions of Oricutron, Aigle D'Or and Xenon 1 but still I finally found 1 user last week so hope is never lost ;)

Thanks a lot for your work !

Oh, 'tis a shame you feel that way, but I also wish to thank you for the hard work and energy you put into providing this valuable resource .. if you want my opinion, GameBase Oric simply wasn't promoted well enough to get it out there, and was always too hard to actually get .. but now you're using dropbox, and its not hidden behind retrogamer (or whatever it was), its a lot more accessible. Maybe we can help you promote it more and widely to other old-school computing fans? I think it would, for example, do well to promote it on places like reddit.com/r/retrobattlestations and so on ..

Anyway, thank you for your hard work on this wonderful Oric resource!

Yes, that's true! It's not so much about the feedback, just that compiling an Oric Gamebase with games that work with just one click and screenshots is surprisingly time-consuming. A lot of the games come in several parts which need joining; easy enough to do but the joined files that work in Oricutron often don't work in Euphoric :?:. I need Euphoric and DosBox just to take the screenshots for the Gamebase, so I need to play every game to try to get several good screen captures, also to make sure they work ok. The real pain is the type-ins; other than a few remaining games from Musepat, the rest of my collection still to be added are in books. Typing in the contents of a whole listings book just to add 20 more rubbish games to the collection that nobody will play anyway is a pain in the backside, especially when half of them are broken and need de-bugging (in the case of Meteoric Programming).

I may resume this project one day but for the time being I will be playing games rather than typing them!

I feel sad when I read that you have no longer enthusiasm about it.

Its not true that only you and few others are interested in it.

I announce it on Turkish retro forums and places where thousands of people see. Many people hear about Oric first time maybe due to this collection.

Gamebase for Oric is really a piece of art and you spent too much energy and effort on that. I'm sure of it.

I have heard about "gamebase" program after your product and tried to collect other systems databases like c64, amiga, spectrum etc. But they are all unorganised, unfinished, untidy bunch of files.

As far as I can see, Oric gamebase is the most complicated and useful gamebase project ever in this manner.

Please reconsider your decision of giving up on this project. I'm sure there will be many more treasures to be found and added to the database by you.

If there's a chance, I would happily help in any way.

Thank you on this project for all your efforts of past and future...
