finding (cheap?) 65xx family ICs around...

I checked both farnell and radiospares but they don't seem to know anything about 6522 anymore... anyone knows a place I can find some ?
It'd likely be cheaper than buying an FPGA + devkit-that-only-runs-on-windows to replace them in a design.
I could probably grab one from a dead atmos but unsoldering it would likely kill it (though I manage to unsolder a CMS chip and use it to replace one on a dead ne2000 once), but I want an ACIA too.
Want to add some ports to my Atmos, and having the same wiring as the telestrat would save some work in supporting both.

Old post, but i will reply :)

Some years ago, we bought many 65C816/65C22/65C02 from WDC.

Someone bought all orders from many persons. Because WDC don't sell (I think) only one chip.

That is why i have 2 65C816, 2 65C22, 2 65C02. But, i am interested to order these chips again (as explained above)

I needed a few 6522s to repair some old computers - if you're savvy, you can find them in spares/repair stuff on eBay - They're in Vic20s, 1541 disk drives (2 in there, along with a 6502!) BBC computers and lots of other stuff. If you're looking for 6522 for new projects/interfacing, the 6526 found in the old breadbox C64 will do nicely. 99% of 6522 stuff works equally well on 6526..

Don't even try to buy chip part from such chinese store, you are nearly sure to find fake parts.

The 65Cxx chips are still in production and can be found as new part. The 65C02 have slight differences from the 6502 but the Oric ROM and as far as I know, no Oric app use the 6502's unknown opcode (and using them is a bad idea in general)

Even the 65C816 is still in production, and with small changes it can be use as a replacement for a 65(C)02

This are new and genuine part: http://uk.mouser.com/ProductDetail/West ... bJ%2f4U%3d

Never buy chips from chinese store on ebay or any other chinese website, unless the store have a good reputation (like Seeed Studio for exemple) or the change to have fake approach 100%

And it's the same for 74** chips, they are really inexpensive on official and new parts, why bother buying them from unreliable sources?

Aliexpress, like all chinese "brokers" are known to sell fake parts.

BTW a 74HCT244 have nothing to do with SCART, it's just an octal buffer (that cost $0.6 on official shop: http://www.newark.com/webapp/wcs/stores ... reId=10194 )

Hi,

Concerning the 74HCT244, it is in relation with this article : http://andre.cheramy.net/trucs/peritel2.pdf
Someone tried this?

For Aliexpress, maybe your right about fake, but i bought with this platform since 3 years now, for repair few vintage and amplifier equipment, and i never had surprise .. did you try to order in china ?

i note with attention your recommendation.

Best,
Ephy.
