dummy question ?
do you think it will be possible to create an adaptater to use an USB memory key with an Oric
so it will be a very simple method to have a sort of hard drive and very cheap !
an USB memory key is possible ?
In the CEOMAG Of April, an article is based upon that !!

I know it's in french, but i'm sure someone will be able to explain it here !

you could do it by using a pic or avr microcontroller as a bridge to handle the filesystem & usb-stack,
but it's not worth it, sd-cards are better because they are serial.
the usb subsystem is a lot of trouble unless you intend doing more than just flash acess.
the other problem with usb is that the device may want to stream or recieve a lot of data in one go,
that means you need a buffer on the microcontroller of anywhere between 64k & a very silly number.
there is no way on earth an oric (or any other 6502 system) could stream to usb without a buffer.

It is Torlus. Please, have a look in recent posts, in the general discussion of the forum : http://forum.defence-force.org/viewtopi ... =1988#1988Twilighte wrote:I remember at last summers CEO someone said they were working on an SD Card interface. Trouble is i don't remember who.
Such a mass storage system would open up alot more possibilities on the Oric.
