Hello,

Fabrice Frances was so kind to tell me that there is English translation of HyperBasic.
Does anybody have it?

Thanks in advance,
George

There's a translation of the manual.
http://www.defence-force.org/computing/ ... /index.htm

If there's an English version the only person I know of that might have it is Jim Groom. H

Yess IIRC Fabrice translated the manual (at least a part of it). See Steve's link; if I'm not mistaken it used to be on Fabrice's website long ago but apparently not anymore.
If you were talking about the ROM istelf, I've never heared of an English translation - but I've never paid much attention to Telestrat things.

The Telestrat was originally the Stratos in the UK. I'm not sure if HyperBasic came out then, but if it did it would probably be in English. The Telestrat that Jim has came from Brian Kidd and is supposed to be a Stratos. It has HyperBasic cartridge but I'm not sure whether they came with it or are later additions i.e. French made.
It was briefly in my hands when Peter Finan owned it between Brian and Jim. I don't remember whether it was in English or French.

Hyper Basic is definitely French-made. It was made by Fabrice Broche, and IIRC the Telestrat release was delayed because of Hyper Basic not being ready in time.
Well, that's the story at least; usually truth is not so simple!

In that case I don't see why there would be an English version. The English market had dried up for Oric. Maybe Fabrice was refering to the English manual???

Just been trying to look through my files - I can't get Oricutron to run as a Telestrat. (anyone else have this problem?)

I looked through Euphoric and find two different Hyperbas ROMs but I can't run Euphoric to check whether either of these is in English. Can someone that uses Euphoric have a look ???

I tried running Oricutron as a Telestrat but couldn't get it to run either.

Not tried Euphoric yet as I'm in work.

Oricutron works as Telestrat by me without problem.
@ Steve M : If you can zip and post your Hyper-Basic rom images I'll try them immediately.

They might be the same. Here they are.

By hex-editing them, both are in French.
But the content is not exactly identical - can't tell what in terms of functionalities.

According: http://oric.free.fr/ROMS/romident.txt

1d96ab50 HYPERBAS.ROM
31b10476 HYPBAS1.ROM

1D96AB50 Hyperbasic 2.0B original pour cartouche avec TeleAss
31B10476 Hyperbasic 2.0B original pour cartouche sans TeleAss

EDIT: My test in Oricutron confiirms the above description related to 'avec' and 'sans'.
For HYPERBAS.ROM set in 'oricutron.cfg' file:

Code: Select all

telebank0 = ''
telebank1 = ''
telebank2 = ''
telebank3 = ''
telebank4 = ''
telebank5 = 'roms/teleass'
telebank6 = 'roms/hyperbas'
telebank7 = 'roms/telmon24'
For HYPBAS1.ROM set in 'oricutron.cfg' file:

Code: Select all

telebank0 = ''
telebank1 = ''
telebank2 = ''
telebank3 = ''
telebank4 = ''
telebank5 = ''
telebank6 = 'roms/hypbas1'
telebank7 = 'roms/telmon24'
If your system is not Windows check lower/upper case of the file names.
Else, both ROMs are French and seem to work equally.
