Euphoric on a mobile device?
Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
I would add that, whatever the qualities or defaults, it's not a bad thing to have different emulators, with different ways of doing things. I'm still almost exclusively using Euphoric (being used to it) but I'm more than happy to know that there's an alternative which brings new options I might be happy to find some day.

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
Its definitely not a bad thing to have different emulators out there, in my opinion.
If you want to know why I think Oricutron is better than Euphoric, here's a list:
1) Way more portable
2) Easier code to read, build, modify
3) A lot more interest of the Author in the community (thank you Xenon!)
4) Runs great on everything I put it on, including my OpenPandora console. ORIC in my POCKET?! WTF, YAY!
5) I don't do Windows. Oricutron doesn't require me to break that pact.

Point 3 is not fair, Fabrice has shown the contrary even if it's not "true" anymore. Without him The Oric community will be long dead.

Bloody right. BTW, Fabrice stepped back a little in the shadow but he's still contributing (Euphoric 1.014 has been released last month).kamelito wrote:Point 3 is not fair, Fabrice has shown the contrary even if it's not "true" anymore. Without him The Oric community will be long dead.
Anyway I don't I think Ibisum meant to blame anyone, I rather read is as "it's good to have an emulator programmer posting here these days" (which is bloody right too), so happy end

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
Yeah, absolutely no disrespect intended towards Fabrice, I was more referring to the fact that Xeno is so active with us these days and has definitely brought some more life into the Oric emulation scene - in fact without both of these guys doing what they do, I doubt we'd be able to have as much fun these days, eh? Absolutely respect intended all around - you guys authoring new proggies are fabulous as well, can't get enough of you ..
EDIT: one thing, if you want an Oric in your pocket, the Open Pandora gaming console is one hell of a place to put it! http://openpandora.org/ Oriculator works absolutely wonderfully on it ..

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
I've almost got Euphoric running on my iPhone 3GS via DOSPad:
http://litchie.com/apps/dospad.html
I think I've just got a minor config issue, as when I launch Euphoric it tells me:
Can't open sound dump dump.psg (Please check or modify your .ini file)

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
In Euphoric.ini file find the DumpSound statement, it should look like this:
DumpSound=Yes
and change it to this:
DumpSound=No
By the way, can't find anything regarding Euphoric at the link You provided?

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
I've now discovered my iPhone creates copies of the ini files, hence my config not working - I was editing the wrong one.
Euphoric does now run on my 3GS, but verrryyy slloooowwwllllyyy. It takes several seconds per frame.
Are there old versions of Euphoric available that may run better on this low spec?

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
IMHO a native port of Oricutron will be a lot betterAntiriad2097 wrote:I've now discovered my iPhone creates copies of the ini files, hence my config not working - I was editing the wrong one.

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
If someone ask for Euphoric, then why do you ALWAYS tend to offer Oricutron???
This thread is regarding Euphoric!
By the way - I have an older version of Euphoric.
I can send it to you by email?
Send me Your email address via private message?
(I am using Euphoric 0,99k version)

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
Because Oricutron is portable, Euphoric is not and up to now the Iphone is not powerful enough to make Euphoric usable.Brana wrote:If someone ask for Euphoric, then why do you ALWAYS tend to offer Oricutron???

In another end, Intel is putting X86 on mobile devices, there Euphoric could shine once adapted.

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
Ever used Euphoric under DosBox?
I have, and it works on all of my (old) computers!
Oricutron does not!
When you fix that - give me a call!
Untill then -

Well the thread is about Euphoric on mobile devices not old intel boxes.Brana wrote:Ever used Euphoric under DosBox?

Re: Euphoric on a mobile device?
If You are asking about my computers; they're dual boot (Win98 / WinXP SP1 or SP2)
- On Win98 Euphoric runs perfectly,
- on WinXP Euphoric sometimes tend to "stuck" at the very startup (but I've noticed that the CPU load has something to do with this; example - when I quit Netscape Navigator and THEN launch Euphoric - then it works OK)
Or - under DosBox on my WinXP - it works OK even while Netscape Navigator is running!!!
On the other hand, I can't get to launch Oricutron at all on WinXP...
The "fastest" computer that I've have is 300Mhz... with about 380MB of RAM and 16MB Nvidia video memory..
I know it isn't exactly the "newest" hardware, but there you go...

Now, back to the thread;
PLEASE have a look at this link:
http://www.intomobile.com/2009/03/05/wi ... nokia-n95/
It's a whole Win98 emulated with a DosBox on the Nokia n95!!!
If Win98 can work (as shown) then how can't we have Euphoric (under DosBox) emulated as well on a similar thing?!?
Is it possible that emulating Euphoric on a hand-held device requires a device with larger CPU power than to emulate the whole Win98 itself?!
Or am I missing something here?
