Euphoric : Last build, loading wav

Post by amo76 » Tue Jan 31, 2012 10:35 pm

Hello,
I try to load wav files with Euphoric but i did not succeed for each files.
The way i did it :
- get the game in tap files
- use tap2wav prpgram to convert the tap files in wav files
- Try to load it in Euphoric with virtual magneto

It's ok for "Esquive" Game ( :D ) but ko with "Aigle d'or" and "Cyclotron" ( :( ).
Note, that i want to do it with wav in order to load them with a real ORIC

Do i need to do something on wav files to ahve the right format ?
Can i check something to check ?

Thanks for help

You'd need to be more specific about what you call "ko"?
Files Not playing, not loading, errors ?

Classic mistake with TAP2WAV: don't use any switch to make WAVs for Euphoric, use the "-11" switch if you want to make WAV files for a real Oric. If you used the -11 switch, your file won't load in Euphoric though.

thanks for response,
xhan i said ko, it means the games never launch.
It loooks like Euphoric blocked.
It means that the file is loaded (Loading + the name of the game at the top) but never start.
For some game it's ok (Zorgons + Esquive) but didn't work with others (Aigle d'or + Mushroom)

To convert tap files, i use TAP2WAV with no option, so that it uses 4,8 encoding.

Are you sure you're not trying to load Oric-1 games on Atmos, or Atmos games on Oric-1? Did you test the TAP files first?

So i made a few tests

I turn Euphoric in Oric1 mode and when i use basic10.rom and try to load a game (with hardware tape) then it never puts loading and the name of the game ( :? ).
So i change the rom to put atmos ROM and then i got the same issue : for some games, Euphoric is still always loading the game (blank screen + cload command + loading <name of the game>) :?: :?: :?:

Perhaps the issue is with my wv files (certainly), where can i find some wav files for Euphoric ?

The tap files ar ok, i test them and no problem with the games.

The only différence between Euphoric in Oric1 and Atmos mode, is that it load the rom of the accordingly name. Both Oric1 and Atmos have the same hardware, and only the ROM change.

I must confess I absolutely don't understand what's happening with your wav files. Oric-1 emulation should load as the Atmos does (except the loading name doesn't appear after "Loading .." if you used CLOAD""), and then simply just maybe crash at the end of the loading.

Well, I downloaded Zorgon from Oric.org, converted it to WAV with Wav2tap, and loaded it without any problem with Euphoric 1.014. :?

I suggest that amo76 saves the wav files somewhere, and that symoon tries to load them :)

This might be a bit stupid, but could there be an issue with how to use Euphoric to load a wav file? I remember I had some trouble finding out how to do it properly (something with the correct sequence of hardware tape, select, play, cload or whatever)

Symoon, thanks for your test !
Zorgons is even ok for me (as Esquive).
Could you make the test with "Aigle d'or" , "Mushroom Mania" and "Cyclotron" ?
Thanks !!!!!!

Ooops my bad if Zorgon was OK!
I tried Mushroom Mania from Oric.org, it worked fine too.
Wanted to try Cyclotron but didn't find it on Oric.org?

Now as said Dbug, the most interesting test would be that you store your WAV files somewhere so we can try them. This way we'll be able to know it the problem comes from the TAP/WAV files or Euphoric, or from your configuration.
