Capturing Euphoric Video

Wouldn't it be great to video your demos, game exploits or a guide through your utilities?
Well DOSBOX has the facility (Version 0.65 and beyond) to record sessions in DOS, and this includes recording audio and video under Euphoric.
DOSBOX will in the near future be shipped as part of Dbugs OSDK package. DOSBOX can also be downloaded here...

I tried the capture myself and it worked very well.
To capture a video, press CTRL ALT F5 and the same again to stop capturing.
The video is generated in the file euphoric_000.avi where 000 is the sequence number.
To play back the Video you will need the ZMBV movie codec. This Codec can be downloaded on XP and Windows2000 machines directly from the video folder under the DOsbox folder in your start menu.
After the codec is installed, you can view the AVI in most video players such as Windows Media player or Win DVD or alternatively you can find an AVI2MPEG utility to convert the somewhat obscure ZMBV codec AVI file to MPEG format.
Please remember that for something like the Odelighte demo (which is only about 5 minutes long) consumes a whopping 150Megs.

Have fun and let me know if anyone can find me a free AVI2MPEG utility thats not limited by either a flashing message on the converted file, a video length limit or a No-save limit (aaarrgghh!)

A couple years ago I have used a simple PrintScreen option under Euphoric that saves a BMP file of the window under Euphoric on to Hard drive, and then used Adobe Premiere to convert the series of BMP's into standard AVI file, that needed NO codex (it could be viewed even on Win95!)

It is a simple and interesting method, if You dont mind pressing PrintScreen a couple of hundrent times ...

Well, I thought i mention it here..

Best regards

Hahaha Brana, i guess that is one sure way to do it, but how did you manage fast animations? slow cpu to 100Hz?! :S

Sounds a little too head thumping for my liking tho :P

Well, actually it is not that hard to do:

I would slow down the Oric CPU speed under the Euphoric to somewhere to 0.3 or 0.1 Mhz, then just keep pressing the PrtScrn on the keyboard at the desired speed..

And - at the end, used external program to convert it to stand-alone AVI file...

This way AVI would NOT require any codec to play.

Anyway: how can I use (and should I use?!) a DosBox on a computer under Win98??
