Yes of course it runs on the Cumulus.

Didn't get the question... Are you asking if the game Space:1999 will run with cumulus? Then the answer is, as Hialmar said, yes of course.

But what do you mean by "Microdrives"???

Just a quick side note to this thread. It appears this morning that Martin Landau starring Cdt Koenig has just passed away.

Indeed... And Gareth Thomas (main character in Blake's 7) also passed away this year.... I am tempted to stop making games based on old TV series or movies

Oh don't do that ! ;) You might try instead to do a game about Dr Who, who can't die but simply re-incarnate into a new person. This time (season 13), the Dr will be a woman for the first time ever.

(Btw I'm fascinated by the number of new games you build on the Oric. I'd neved had patience to do one in full asm for the thomsons. Congrats!)

You don't have to do a full assembler game, it's perfectly doable to do the core in C, and use assembler only for the critical parts (like for example the Hnefatafl viking chess game)

still off topic , sorry.
(Last time I used gcc6809 it tend to either bug (refusing to compile reasonable-sized functions due to spilled register problem), or to produce either buggy code or (most often) fat and inefifcient. However I succeded to compile some quite heavy source-code resulting in an interesting program, but most of the code was asm-inlines to get something not too slow and it wasn't a game yet)

Hey guys I can't download the game. Is there a new link that works?

Hi!

You can download the game from here https://www.defence-force.com/index.php ... =space1999

On the top right there are links to the English and French versions and the source code. I get a warning in Chrome, though. The link which appears later on in the text downloads with no warning.

No idea why...

Cheers and happy playing. Don't forget to post any feedback, ask for help or whatever.

Looks like one of the link does not specify http, so gets loaded as https, which makes Chrome happy, and the other has http:// in the link:

Code: Select all

<a href="files/space1999-en.zip">Space: 1999 - The Oric Game (English version 1.0) (785 kb)</a>
<a href="http://defence-force.org/files/space1999-en.zip" target="_blank"

IMHO, there is one more small thing for fix: the links on the top right have full URL i.e. they explicitly point to "defence-force.org" and if you follow (for instance) Chema's link which stars with www.defence-force.com then the result is "cross-domain" request and most browsers issue a warning. Maybe the best is to change all download links to simple relative paths. Just my 2ยข ...

Really a very nice game! I started the game on my Oric Atmos with its Cumana Reborn, but I'm a bit stuck at the beginning: I can't seem to find the alien plant that the doctor sent me to look for! I see the place where all the plants are, and I've also picked up the doctor's notebook in her room... but the plant, I don't know where it is! A little help please!!

Do you have the complete game, or just the .DSK file?

Normally you should have the following:
  • space1999-en.dsk (or -fr)
  • space1999-manual.pdf
  • space1999-readme.txt
  • AlphaLevelG.png
  • AlphaLevelH.png
  • AlphaTower.png
