I know what you mean. I could have cried after typing in the HUGE listing of 'Singerie' that was spread across several Theoric Magazines, only to discover a TAP file for the game a few months later !! :(

I might have stuck something else on the disk or there may have been some other book added - I really don't remember at this stage. It was probably 15 years since I last looked at these disks :o(

Ah - there are some programs from Dynamic Games for your Oric on there. That's where Eatie Sweetie is from. Also Life, Sequence, Four by Four, Flippa. (not sure if there's more.) These don't seems to be on the Dynamic disk. They may have originally been on 3" disk which doesn't have the same capacity as the 3.5"

Thanks for clearing that up Steve, I'll add all those new games to my Gamebase before the next version. I've just treated myself to an all-singing and dancing Gaming PC which I am spending most of my spare leisure time on now. Once the novelty wears off I will get back to adding games to the Gamebase. :P

Cool. If you need a hand let people on here know and I'm sure some will help out. We need to know what to aim at and so on so everyone isn't trying to do the same thing, but I'm sure folk would help out if they knew what to do.

Hello, here is a contribution & questions on gamebase. I've scanned a part of the gamebase and i've found these troubles.
A list of softwares where the tap files are uncomplete.
  • 7eme Dan, Le (198x)(Jean-Pierre Ferrand)(PD).tap
    Airfox (1988)(Starfox).tap
    Atlantid (198x)(Sprites).tap
ORIC.ORG : Aventures De Lilla Et Jacky, Les (1984)(Micropuce)(fr)[a dave].tap
EASY TO CORRECT : Blocus (1984)(Logi-Puce).tap
    Car War, The (1987)(Theoric).tap
    Caspak (1983)(Loriciels).tap
    Dedal (1984)(Infogrames).tap
    Gubbie (1985)(IJK Software Ltd).tap
    HEBDOGICIEL.FR : Heritier, L' (1986-04-11)(Hebdogiciel)[a dave].tap
    EASY TO CORRECT : Hyperspace 4 (1984)(Cobra Soft).tap
    Jeux Olympiques (198x)(Micropuce).tap
    Millionaire, Le (198x)(Ere Informatique).tap
EASY TO CORRECT : Monde Animal, Le (1983)(Squirelle).tap
EASY TO CORRECT : Nuclear War (19xx)(-)(fr)[a dave].tap
    HEBDOGICIEL.FR : Odyssee (1985-10-25)(Hebdogiciel)[a dave].tap
    HEBDOGICIEL.FR : Olive et Popeye (1986-11-28)(Hebdogiciel)[a dave].tap
    Oric Parchen Kitchen (1983)(Opel).tap
    Pengo (1985)(Theoric).tap
    EASY TO CORRECT : Pooyan (1984)(Bourin, Christophe)(PD).tap
    Quark 3D Invaders (19xx)(Quark Data).tap
    HEBDOGICIEL.FR : Raule (1986-10-10)(Hebdogiciel)[a dave].tap
    Ring of Darkness (1983)(Wintersoft).tap
    ORIC.ORG : Secret de Kaipur, Le (1984)(France Logiciels).tap
EASY TO CORRECT : Snaky (1985)(Sprites).tap
FR CORRECTED / EN TO DO : Sokobac (19xx)(CEO)[a dave].tap
EASY TO CORRECT : Star Patrol (1983)(Veber, Patrick).tap
    HEBDOGICIEL.FR : Star Trek (1983-12-30)(Hebdogiciel)[a dave].tap
    Terrific Terra Invaders (1985)(Attila 62)(PD).tap
    Time Machine (1983)(Channel 8 Software).tap
    ORIC.ORG : Trident de Neptune, Le (1984)(No Man's Land)[a dave].tap
    Tron (1985)(Theoric).tap
    ORIC.ORG : Waydor (1984)(IMS Sftware)[a dave].tap
    HEBDOGICIEL.FR : Xeragone (1986-05-30)(Hebdogiciel)[a dave].tap
    Yam (1987)(Theoric).tap
    HEBDOGICIEL.FR : Zamcopter (1986-02-07)(Hebdogiciel)[a dave].tap
ORIC.ORG and HEBDOGICIEL.FR means that there's good versions of the tap (or that i've corrected them on my hd and i've to upload them on oric.org
EASY TO CORRECT means that i think that i'm can correct the tap file.
(i can do it to contribute to your base dave)

For the other files, i don't have the files so i can't make some good tape files.
Do you have some zip or other files dave ?

Question about cascade 50 tapes :

I understand that there's a cascade 50 for oric1 and another one for atmos (and oric1)
I've a zip with all the oric1 files from the first tape.
But sometimes, you've 3 versions of softwares. How can i sort tap files from the cassette 50 atmos and from which tap have you got the other ones (may be the tap files from 1984) ?

In the case of they are extracted from another tape, do you have the scan cover ?

Yes, I think the software house needs to be mentioned somewhere or there's a danger of losing sight of what version is being looked at.

Not sure if it happens with others but my virus scans sometimes flags up Oric files and I think some of my Hebdo has got corrupted.

Hi Didier, all the games you listed as incomplete are actually complete, however they are all games with split files. The missing files you are looking for can be found in the following directory:-

Gamebase/Oric/Emulators/Oricutron/Tapes

For some reason, split file games will only load in Oricutron if the secondary files are located within the 'Tapes' directory. I have tried joining the files to make just one TAP but was unsuccessful.

Regarding Cassette 50, I believe the original Oric-1 version comprised of really bad, basic games by 'UTS'. There was a later release about the same time the Atmos version came out that had much better games. As far as I know, both Oric-1 versions had the same inlay but I only own the later version.

Thanks for the point about Oricutron. I did'nt know that.
I'll try to create tap files with these separate files.

I should mention that the problem with Oricutron only occurs when games are launched via Gamebase, probably something to do with the script it uses not changing the default directory that the emulator points to. Loading split file games outside of Gamebase seems to work fine with all the files in one directory.

I know it,s a big ask ,But as a complete tecnophobe i find it difficult to dowload the Gamebase infact impossible as 74 years old its beyond me ! Would any of the ORIC people out there help me either by dowloading it onto a disk zipped or otherwise ,I would re-emburse any cost involved (disk post etc ) i would even be prepared to pay a small premium for the trouble of doing it ! You can send me a message via the website message board to get my address ,after seeing what some of members of this forum can do i know its shamefull I,m not able to do what i must assume is a simple task . Hears hopefull someone will help me out . I do love my ORIC .

I guess I could add some easy to download links to the gamebase files, just tell me where they are.
